DayZ: Fun reloaded

Please see below (2nd reply to this thread) a first draw of a DayZ character system.

This is not a suggestion to implement in the game, but a voluntary choice to adept your

play to make it more difficult / interesting again. Would love to hear your suggestions on this.

Ghillies, silenced automatics, anti-materials rifles...

all the high-end equipment, all in our hands.

We've controlled Stary, camped the NWA, drove a vehicle from time to time...

raided those tent cities to stock up on supplies, some of them with obviously duped items.

We've beaten the game? Hmmm yea for some time, but now I got bored. Would guess

some of my teammates experienced the same.

But then I got some inspiration :) German players may want to check out "JeremiahRose" (Odium)

on Youtube. In his latest LetsPlay he suggest his viewers to invent some kind of story for themselves.

Hmm... yea... we tried this and it was big fun :D

From a bunch of random l33t soldiers with hightech equipment (like everyone else) we went to:

I play a common farmer. Just stick to my good old shotgun. I don't use a map (was born here anyway) and no compass (devil stuff, my grandpa had some bad experiences...). Only one who can skin animals. Like to put a load of pellets in those zombies.

Then we have our medic. Not a real one though, 2nd semester medial student, but you take what you get. Only one who can perform blood transfusions. (So noone can perform it on him...)

The weapon manic. Insist on a full auto weapon. Only fires it full auto . Can happen that he fires it in inappropriate situations.

Our military guy. Skilled sniper. Heavy weapon though, can't carry a second one.

Our explosives "expert". (Actually we will have to find out how good he is with those things)

"Fatty". Once his eating symbol gets slightly orange he wants to eat.

You notice what we are doing? There is some kind of roleplay element of course. The second thing is that we make the game articifially difficult for us. Hey, I loved the game Jagged Alliance 2. When it became to easy, I gave myself more strict rules. (no saves, main character can't die etc.) So now we do this in DayZ as well. This game has gotten to easy for us. But as DayZ is absolutly uncompetitive we can simply make it more difficult ourselves. Why wait for Rocket to create a skill system. We just create it ourselves :)

Yea the evening with my guys was great. Suddenly all those small cities became interesting again. Scavening around, looking for new shotgun shells, killing those fucking zombies. It became dark, we continued playing at night (for the first time actually). Found a car, played music over direct. Driving along the coast... finding a second car :) convoy. Woouhh oh already in Electro hurry up.

Later on, all of us have just taken place again in our cars after a stop: "Say something or I shoot" - "hey man stay cool, we are friendly" ; started to play some peaceful raggae music. "Wanna jump in?" He decided to trust us and drove with us in the night. A new player, his second day in DayZ.

Actually, that is a really great idea, I might have to try that. It adds a certain spirit that only can be found in RPGs.

Please add your suggestions / ideas on this first draw for character creation.

That is a roleplay suggestion, not for Rocket to implement in the Game.

Every character starts with zero points. You have to end up at or above 0 points once you

created your character.

Choose or create a character attitude:

Hates Zombies (0)

Selfish: Does not like to share anything. Always a great discussion with him. (0)

Fatty: Wants to eat once his eating symbol gets slightly oranges. Annoys the team with it and burns through our resources. (0)

Weapon maniac: Insist on full auto weapon, preferably an MG. If he doesn’t have one or has not enough ammo to inflict a massacre he forces the team to go to military spawns. Always fires full auto. (0)

Pacifist. Refuses to shoot on other survivors unless they show clear signs of hostility (+1)

Explosives expert (0): Gets all our explosives. Uses them to blow up the horde.

Skills:

Skin animals (-1)

No compass / no map (+1)

Strong: (-1) Necessary to carry Alice-pack, coyote, LMG, anti-material rifle, 2 primary weapons

Does not use Ghille or Camo suits (+1)

Medical

Not able to bandage yourself or others (+2)

Able to bandage/ painkiller (0)

Able to apply morphine/ Enephrine (-1)

Able to apply blood transfusion (-2)

Weapons:

Only shotgun (+1)

Sharp-shooter (-1): Can use sniper rifles

Snipers cannot carry a 2nd weapon

Anti-Material Rifle: Can only carry vest pouch

Machine Gun: Can only carry vest pouch.
