_Profile_Shame 37 Posted May 23, 2012 edit- since I saw the fire running at that size without fps loss, would it not be possible to just scale the flames at a distance, and when you get close enough to the forest, just use already existing elements to effect?an example would be to-lower visibility to a minimum (fog)-apply screen effects utilizing gamma / contrast-tint in yellow/red/white/whatever colour fits-use heat distortion effects-play loud fire sfx when in the forest suggestions: -bushfires-wood available in the forest (seems logical)-bears/packs of wild dogs in forest/something with random chance of encounter -fucking fishing -change low temp results to hypothermia, infection from wounds or viral transmission-gore / dismembermentjust played in a server bugging out with fires, and it reminded me of an idea I think would add cool gameplay..bushfires, player made and random (lightning) would be an awesome way to hunt animals and playersi attached some pics, also have video but the fires were alot more glitchy than the pics suggestwill upload the video later when it wont take so long, there was a decent amount of fire (most of it in the sky) which shows that it could be done from a technical level Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

_Profile_Shame 37 Posted May 23, 2012 sucks that bushfires are impossible due to engine, maybe arma 3 will have an easier time handling something like this. i initially thought it would be too much for the engine, but after seeing the fire bugs, there was hope since all that would be needed would be to move it down into the forest. was running without fps loss btw.dismemberment would be a cool addition, ive seen other mods with it working - is it because those were single player? but yeah thanks for the replies Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
dale 11 Posted May 23, 2012 the fire your seeing is from a vehicle which has bugged out when destroyed (most prob heli which been destroyed).The dismemberment in SP is very much indeed different in MP as you would (like the bandit) need to swap skins to say lose an arm :/Also Arma 3 is going to even more demanding than Arma 2 so I wouldnt expect anything there :D Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

_Profile_Shame 37 Posted May 27, 2012 i really dont think its a technical limitation, since there are options that exist that present the area in a fashion consistent with the scenario that dont rely on excessive graphics - eg fire sprites everywhere - though some could be utilized since ive run the game with everything on high and had fire bugs that filled my entire fov without noticeable fps loss Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
