help with in game map

Recommended Posts

Hi guys so I found my first map and had a few questions. first off, I know how to set way points but how do I take them off? Second I was reading there are ways to use the map to like set a waypoint to figure out the distance for a sniper shot, how do I figure out distances using the mpa and waypoints or if there are otehr ways to use the map to figure out distance can you tell me that as well. Lastly, is there a way so when u set a way point and you close the mapo that you can see where teh waypoint actually is in game? Any other useful things to know about the map in game would be appreciated as well. Oh and is there a way to get the in game map to show what buildings you can and cant enter or no?

All of the waypoints you listed are from the same thing. Some servers do/don't have the feature enable. If you are playing on a server with it enabled, then shift-left click on your map ('M') and then it should show a black circle on the area you just shift-clicked on the map. Upon exiting the map a green arrow will point out the waypoint and the distance to it in meters.

Think of the in game map as a real life topographical map.

You can use it to navigate etc. It is accurate to the contour lines, landmarks, elevations and locations. If you know how to read the map, the lines and know where you are, you can get around easily without a compass.

Just be very clear about identifying where you are by the slope of the land.

Grid lines and references are also accurate and can be used to navigate.

To set a waypoint, open the map and hold down SHIFT and press your fire button on a place on the map. You will notice a small black circle.

Back in game, you will notice a waypoint marker in your vision (this is turned off on some veteran servers). You can only select one of these at a time.

This gives you distance but the map does not show YOUR location. So using the waypoint to check distance, IF you know where you are can be used, but it's much easier once you get the hang of the distances in game...you will be able to judge yourself. (Or find a rangefiner)

If you click on the map without holding SHIFT you will see a thick black X appear in a circle with text entry. You can type anything you want here and it will show up to any other player on the server with a map who is on teh same chat channel you are on. For example, if you are on global chat or green group chat and leave a message, TRUCK HERE, EVERYONE can see that. So caution to not use that unless trying to describe your location to someone maybe trying to hook up with you. This can be deleted from the map by holding the mouse over it and pressing your DELETE key. You can also delete everyone elses. Don't trust other people's messages.

Your SHIFT waypoints are not visible to others, just you.

No,the in game map will not show you the loot spawns. Use the usual internet link for that one.
