What is Carbon Tactics?

CT is a group of like minded individuals who share the same common goal, survival, dominance, protection, and fun. We will be focused on nothing except expanding our numbers with quality players and outfitting them with the best gear we can find. Which in turn allows us to find more people and get them geared. We respect that people play the game how they see fit.

We are a Military Structured team. We have missions / overwatch / medic response / assault squads / mechanics. Doing it this way allows everyone to play how THEY want to play and to have the most fun.

Do we use group formations?

Yes, we move in small groups when on missions with each person performing a specialized role. The 4 roles being....

1) Sniper/scout (long range shooter)

2) Trooper/recon (heavy infantry assault and/or stealth)

3) Medic (Heals/mends allies and light infantry)

4) Mechanic (finds/repairs/drives vehicles and light infantry)

The 5th role is group/squad leader who can perform any of the chosen roles but also influences the direction of the team.

What is the point of having small groups/squads?

Well this game more than any other game really does reward this military type structure. You have a group Leader who is responsible for direction of the team, where to go, how to approach things. He decides the next move. He should feel responsible for both sucesses and failures of the group.

Sniper role) Provides overwatch and is an excellent marksman. This person doesn't go into the city, he watches from afar and alerts to the squad what is going on around them. They are responsible for eliminating, upon command, as many people as needed to make sure the team leaves in one piece.

Troopers role) These are the main infantry units who protects the medics/mechanics and attacks/repels any threats. They are who you want with you to get you out of any building. They will push through troves of zombies or a full unit of attackers themselves. They will put their lives on the line when you are in danger. They are also responsible for using stealth (and silenced weapons) for entering a city/hotspot prior to it's takeover and dispatching any hostiles.

Medics role) They are in-charge of keeping the squad alive. They focus on holding epi-pins, morphine, bloodpacks, bandages, etc. They have a weapon with some ammo and food, but the others carry the supplies for them so that they can be the most efficient.

Mechanics role) Much like a trooper, but he carries a lot of things that others don't and is responsible for maintaining/apprehending vehicles. Thus sacrificing the stopping power of weapons, but gains the power of mobility.

Do we help people in need?

Their are no rules against helping other people who need it, but it isn't one of our goals.

What do we normally do in game?

When we are in game, we will ALWAYS be active on some type of mission/task. The most common mission is performing hostile takeovers of cities/hot spots and killing off/looting everyone and everything.

Can we give gear to new members?

We help when we can and if it's not a serious hinderance to us. If you are with us, then we will make sure that you get geared so that you can play with us and feel like a part of the group. If you have been playing Dayz for a while, you know that gear comes and goes because it's so easy to die in this game.

Do we have vehicles and a base?

Top priority and the base will be located in a convenient location.

Do we kill without reason?

Sortve, almost every player in this game, armed with any type of weapon, can be a serious threat. We don't take chances with the lives of our team. And sometimes it is just fun to blast away at unsuspecting people.

How do i apply to this Clan?

You apply here by answering some basic questions with a few more complex questions that will determine if you are a good fit for this clan. Please be detailed and thought out in your response, a team is only as good as it's members, and i don't want any weak links in this clan.

As far as acquiring our own server, it isn't out of the question but i will only consider it if enough members join. For now we will play on multiple servers with a chosen server to be established as our main one.

Before I apply (and i'm very interested in doing so) I have a few questions myself.

First, what timezone are you guys located in, and which servers do you play in (US/EU)?

airfields and get good loot.

you do from here to get in and out as safely as possible?

-I say away from the fire station and raid the medium yield buildings in a

rush tactic until i find a gun (which you most likely will) and from there

with the gun I loot the rest of the town sneaking and staying away form

open areas with people then once i have a pack I would raid the only

grocery from the back entrance and listen for footsteps then get the hell

out of town.

2) You are playing as a heavy assault role, and as you are running with

your 5-man squad near Stary Sobor, you hear a single sniper shot and 1 of

your teammates gets killed. What do you do from here (and retreat is never

an option)?

- We all split and run zig zag until we can get to cover and our recon

can use binoculars to try and find the enemy. Then we will set up a plan

where i lay down suppressing fire from a few houses down while our sniper

spots the enemy. Then I run and try to get the sniper to shoot so we can

get him. This is risky but this will work. Because while i run our other

teammate is running to flank the sniper on the hill.

3) We are entering the city of elektro to give assistance to a wounded

teammate located in the store. You are told there is 1 nearby sniper with

range of the store and 2 nearby riflemen, all who are attempting to finish

off our comrade. You are in command of a 5 man squad and must help him +

eliminate the threat. What are your orders from here?

- Well We came with medical supplies i presume so we patch up the alley

and the five man squad watches the all entries from safe locations based on

the fact that the sniper is most likely on the hill we know he can not see

the windows but just the yellow doors and the front but we still say to

stay hidden from the windows. We lay traps for the rifle men like leaving

an extra gun lying in a good spot so they run for it or the ammo and then

we open fire taking them out. once we have them we loot them and hid their

bodies ( it's the price for trying to kill me) and then we run out the

front across the road to the cover the across building provides. then we

head south a block and then west out of the range and view of the sniper.

From there we can move to any better locations.

1) You have just respawned near cherno and make it a goal of yours to enter the city to acquire basic supplies. As you get closer you hear multiple gunshots and sniperfire, you notice only 1 person dies. What do you do from here to get in and out as safely as possible?

- Depending on where the gunfire is coming from, and my looting route is very flexible, I would either loot the grocery store first, then (if safe) go to the fire station. If there is heavy activity there, I would avoid it and go to the square in the middle of town and loot the medium yields. Since room clearing equipment is few and far between (Such as grenades) and they would give away my position, I tend to just sprint into a room if I think there’s someone in there. If there is someone in there, I run back out yelling friendly. If not, then I just loot. After getting a satisfactory amount of loot, I would then leave the city, North, East, or West, depending on where the gunshots were.

2) You are playing as a heavy assault role, and as you are running with your 5-man squad near Stary Sobor, you hear a single sniper shot and 1 of your teammates gets killed. What do you do from here (and retreat is never an option)?

– Making a mental note where my dead squad mate’s body is, I would tell the squad to start doing the serpentine. When the snipers starts shooting at us, we would zero in on his position. Once we figure out where the sniper is, I would begin to give suppressing fire while my squad starts to flank him. If the sniper DOESN’T start shooting at us, we would run to the nearest tree line. Our sniper would attempt to spot the enemy, while the rest of us try to flank wherever we thought the enemy sniper was.

3) We are entering the city of elektro to give assistance to a wounded teammate located in the store. You are told there is 1 nearby sniper with range of the store and 2 nearby riflemen, all who are attempting to finish off our comrade. You are in command of a 5 man squad and must help him + eliminate the threat. What are your orders from here?

– We will attempt to enter the city from the north, through sniper hill. The chances of the enemy sniper being on that hill are enormous, as that hill has range of almost the entire city. We would comb the hill, looking for the sniper. Once we find the sniper, we would kill him and replace him with our squad’s sniper. With our sniper giving us support, we would then make our way to the supermarket. We would tell the wounded member to get to the back of the store, and then proceed to give him emergency medical supplies as needed. If we have the vehicle, we would have it parked somewhere near sniper hill, with the mechanic guarding it. We would then escort the wounded teammate to the power plant fire station, where the mechanic would meet up with us in the car and our sniper would come meet us as well. We would then proceed north to a safe location. If we didn’t have a car, we would all proceed up into sniper hill, over it, and then proceed north.

How much experience do you have playing Dayz - Alot, I have died with practically every weapon/clothing and know all the major parts of the map.

Simple, fast and zig zag. If you hear gunfire, try to determine what gun, where from. Same with the sniper, find out which gun he has. Knowing the guns is the first step, knowing where about they are is the second. I'll try and bait a sniper shot, find his direction and keep on his blind spot (snipers nightmare). The gunfire coming from the street depends on what weapon, short range shotguns/subs will mean I need to keep out of CQC as much as possible, so i'll avoid any tight building with missing loot. If it's AKM/M4A1 etc i'll just keep fast and avoid open areas.

2) You are playing as a heavy assault role, and as you are running with your 5-man squad near Stary Sobor, you hear a single sniper shot and 1 of your teammates gets killed. What do you do from here (and retreat is never an option)?

Try to find out who died. If it was our overwatch, then i'll throw smokes and zig-zag through them. If its one of our base pushers (Medic/Mech/Leader)

then i'll call our sniper to his gunfire, and get him to watch out for the sniper and try pick him off. If he can't, I will go out and bait a shot from him so our sniper could see the muzzle flash or hear the gunshot and possibly take him out. (All overwatch should be equip with thermal scopes, they are invaluable in searching for snipers, especially ghillie suits with SVDs.)

3) We are entering the city of elektro to give assistance to a wounded teammate located in the store. You are told their is 1 nearby sniper with range of the store and 2 nearby riflemen, all who are attempting to finish off our comrade. You are in command of a 5 man squad and must help him + eliminate the threat. What are your orders from here?

Order the overwatch to watch the hills (Again, with thermal). the heavys will rush in with smokes/ignoring and avoiding hits from zeds, whilst also keeping a close eye out for the riflemen. The medic will come in sometime after with the mech in a vehicle if possible, unless the sniper has a m107/as50 (vehicle busters) in which case the mission will have to be done fast and on foot, with the change of heavy going in, with medic and mech behind him.

These questions need more circumstances, depending on the sitution its hard to give an accurate response because all the weapons mean different approaches. however I did the best I could with most situations covered.

- I would get into the outskirts of the city quickly and immediately attempt to locate the active sniper. Once the shooters position is discovered, using routes to eliminate exposure, I would hit only medium-high yield buildings until a weapon is found. Once this is discovered the next priorities would be food, water, and a pack if I'm lucky, ensuring to hit the grocery store on the way out of town.

2) You are playing as a heavy assault role, and as you are running with your 5-man squad near Stary Sobor, you hear a single sniper shot and 1 of your teammates gets killed. What do you do from here (and retreat is never an option)?

- Locating the direction of fire is paramount, and once this is done I would locate the closest available cover and immediately return suppressive fire. Using fire and move, I would continue to lay down suppressive fire as my squad advanced in the snipers direction with one man flanking.

3) We are entering the city of elektro to give assistance to a wounded teammate located in the store. You are told their is 1 nearby sniper with range of the store and 2 nearby riflemen, all who are attempting to finish off our comrade. You are in command of a 5 man squad and must help him + eliminate the threat. What are your orders from here?

- I would have my sniper and heavy weapons squad members set up down the street with overwatch of the entire store and road. Then with suppressive fire I would advance with my remaining squad members down the street, clearing houses along the way. One man would be on the opposite side of the houses working progressively through the backyards in sync.

Sprint as fast as i can to a known build located away from the gunfire where weapons would normally spawn, after acquiring a weapon i would make my way towards the supermarket lotting anything in the back area of the building avoiding the windows as it leaves you vulnerable to snipers and other players camping the store, afterwards if the gunfire is coming from an area towards a ospital o would make my way to the other hospital in cherno and if there are players there in a group, cut my loses and sneak away into the forests.

Tell the team to hit the deack an move towards cover from there go into a third person view to look over your cover to try locating the hostile sniper commanding smoke grenades out from the direction of the sniper have my men move to a more hidin location where we can search for him using binoculars or sniper scopes and wh n he is found, frag out.

Sorry it's just been a hectic weekend and i was mostly unable to reply to the thread.

I have reviewed all the applications and most the answers look pretty good. Right now i am in the process of setting a camp up and getting some vehicles going. I have PMed most the people who were interested in joining and things should get rolling soon.

Are you a serious player works well with others and doesn't mess around during missions- I've been a GM for a WoW raiding guild and am currently an officer of that guild for 4 years, so I'm used to teamwork and group play..... and being made fun of for playing WoW.

Normally when respawning near cherno at least the west side of the city I'll rush into the southern supermarket and then the firestation nearby. I try to hit and run and always stay in as much cover as I can regardless if I know someone is in the area or not. I always assume I'm being watched in cherno unless I've done sufficient scouting, which I don't do when I'm newly spawned with no gear.

2) You are playing as a heavy assault role, and as you are running with your 5-man squad near Stary Sobor, you hear a single sniper shot and 1 of your teammates gets killed. What do you do from here (and retreat is never an option)?

Immediately take cover and try to assess where the sniper is located. I would attempt to lay down suppressive fire while the team flanks the sniper from multiple directions. If my sniper is alive I'll lay down fire while they get into position to counter snipe.

3) We are entering the city of elektro to give assistance to a wounded teammate located in the store. You are told their is 1 nearby sniper with range of the store and 2 nearby riflemen, all who are attempting to finish off our comrade. You are in command of a 5 man squad and must help him + eliminate the threat. What are your orders from here?

Ideally I'd approach from the west and have our sniper setup in the northern firestation and attempt to locate the sniper. After he is able to clear the northern hills of a sniper we'd make our way along the northern outskirts of the town while our sniper tries to countersnipe their sniper. I'd attempt to have our wounded teammate make his way to the back of the store where our sniper could provide better coverage until we got there. Once he's healed we would hopefully have the position of either the riflemen or the sniper and be able to outgun and outflank them with our better intel. Locating the sniper would be key to this mission playing out in our favor.

Be careful not to alert any of the zombies to not give away my position and check all the pubs then the shop, if i have time and are sure its safe check the firestation and the tents, then before leaving hitting the apartments and hospital. If being engaged get to a building and wait until the attacker either comes in, making an easier target for me, or starts shooting someone else, therefore giving me time to get out.

2) You are playing as a heavy assault role, and as you are running with your 5-man squad near Stary Sobor, you hear a single sniper shot and 1 of your teammates gets killed. What do you do from here (and retreat is never an option)?

Get behind some cover and then try to pinpoint the attacker, this may mean throwing multiple decoys (smoke) as cover and the sniper may shoot at the smoke revealing his position, or the sniper may take more shots at us anyway, making it easier to pinpoint, at this time we would try to keep in distracted on a main group while me or someone else went round the flank to terminate the threat.

3) We are entering the city of elektro to give assistance to a wounded teammate located in the store. You are told their is 1 nearby sniper with range of the store and 2 nearby riflemen, all who are attempting to finish off our comrade. You are in command of a 5 man squad and must help him + eliminate the threat. What are your orders from here?

We get 2 men to circle the hills which have a range on the shop as the sniper will most likly be on there, then once elimanted the sniper, making it safer for the other 3 to move in approach the 2 from the front of the shop, going through the school and checking nearby areas for the riflemen while one goes round the back, checks for threats then moves in quickly to heal and help our comrade, afterwards slowly exiting the building from the back while the rest cover and meet up on the hill with the two teammates who gave cover.

Try to find out where the shots are coming from and avoid going that way. I would raid the general store first and if I've got some decent loot, i wouldn't risk going any further knowing theirs a sniper. If the loot wasn't good in the market, i would make my way to the other side of the city by following the beach. i'll loot the field hospital since there is a good chance of finding a rifle Might be risky but without taking risk you won't have fun. Also you have nothing to lose since you've just spawned in.

Duck into cover immediatly. Try to find out where he is and try to flank him by sneaking between trees. while the others distract him. If I find him i will return fire to let him duck into cover if i didn't kill him already. If he saw me sneaking in and he starts shooting then i'll keep him busy so our sniper can get in position to engage.

You are told their is 1 nearby sniper with range of the store and 2 nearby riflemen, all who are attempting to finish off our comrade. - I would set my sniper up on the hill next to the barn out of town so he has eyes on the back of the store he has eyes on everything in the back while we move our way up from the firestation in the city. one player moves into the market while the others find a position to guard the front side wich the scout can't see.

1) You have just respawned near cherno and make it a goal of yours to enter the city to acquire basic supplies. As you get closer you hear multiple gunshots and sniperfire, you notice only 1 person dies. What do you do from here to get in and out as safely as possible?

My goal is to loot the Supermarket, Church, Apartment Buildings, and Hospital. I'll start with the location that is farthest from the gunfire, if possible. I'm always in cover, hugging the walls of buildings, and I attempt to enter and leave each location within 30 seconds, never remaining for long. If I hear more gunfire (after the first), or see more deaths ingame, I'll climb to the roof of a building and survey the town. I may visit the Firestation last, which is conditional upon my first scouting the town from a high vantage point.

2) You are playing as a heavy assault role, and as you are running with your 5-man squad near Stary Sobor, you hear a single sniper shot and 1 of your teammates gets killed. What do you do from here (and retreat is never an option)?

I'll immediately order the squad to run to cover in zig-zags. The trooper will cover the area in smoke (if there's enough smoke, I would also drag our squadmates body inside a building if it is close by enough), while the medic will heal any injuries from surviving members. Assuming our own sniper is alive, I'll have our sniper flush out the location of the enemy sniper. If necessary, one trooper will run in zig zags to try to bait sniper fire (also applying suppressive fire in the sniper's direction, perhaps forcing an inexperienced sniper to panic, change position, or pause on further sniping), and help our sniper identify the enemy position. If we have a mechanic (though any role can be up to the task), I would have that squadmate run towards the direction of the sniper fire in order to flank the sniper's position. This may force the enemy sniper to move his position, which would assist our own sniper as he looks for the enemy with his thermals.

3) We are entering the city of elektro to give assistance to a wounded teammate located in the store. You are told their is 1 nearby sniper with range of the store and 2 nearby riflemen, all who are attempting to finish off our comrade. You are in command of a 5 man squad and must help him + eliminate the threat. What are your orders from here?

The first priority is to clear the sniper hotspots of the potential enemy sniper. Whether we locate the enemy sniper or not, we'll have our own sniper positioned once sniper hill is clear. We'll make our way into Elektro with our Overwatch directing us of any suspicious movements inside the city. Since the enemy is already on its way to finish off our squadmate, we'll fire some gunshots into the air as decoy, to either force the enemy to panic/reveal their positions (for our Overwatch), or maintain their position (thus buying us time to reach our squadmate). As we reach our squadmate, we'll cover the area with smoke. Our Trooper will enter and make sure the store is clear (I'm assuming the store is clear, as otherwise our squadmate will already be dead and we would need to abort mission), while our Medic will remain in cover (hopefully with another Trooper watching the perimeter). Once the store is clear, our medic will heal our squadmate. If we know we are being watched by a sniper/enemy squad, we'll throw a flare out one exit as a decoy, while escaping through the back door, preferably under smoke cover.

"Anyone in Cherno?" I would not change my plan in response to some gunfire in Cherno, except of adapting my movement and avoid certain areas.

First reaction as a common soldier is quite easy:

- Report your intel on direction / distance / weapon

- Find solid cover or keep moving. Keep your head down and wait for commands.

- If your colleague would be alive: Own safety first. Find solid cover, then protect his body with smoke grenades.

From a commanders perspective:

- Find solid cover or keep moving

- Get clear about the situation, listening to the intel of your colleagues

- Make sure your colleagues have taken cover

- Organize a defense to cover your flanks

Can we engange the the sniper now? As we have run into a trap our intel is rather limited. As we are in stary

we should expect a group of up to 5 players as the worst case scenario. I would send those players who

are in an adequate position to flank the enemy. Suppressive fire from our current location is too risky and will have

not much effect. (Because the sniper knows we haven't seen him and therefore knows that we are firing blindly.

He will need just 2 seconds to kill the guy giving covering fire.)

If we don't have some guys in a position to flank the enemy, use smoke to conceal their movement.

If we can't flank them and are pinned down, organize a coordinated attack with smoke, covering fire etc. to distract the sniper.

Consider a temporary retreat might be the best option.

Since one person died, that means the other one will probably come to loot his body, so, if I am in the possession of a assault rifle (such as lee enfield) I would try to move around 200 meters and climb something so I don't aggro many zombies in case I fail my shot.

I will go prone and 3rd person and try to spot him coming, wait a little bit until he starts looting the body, I would now go crouch and aim. I will take the shot but will wait like 5 minutes to see if there is any one else in cherno. If I hear no one around I go crouch till the bodies and quickly loot each and leave.

Immediatly try to identify where the shot came from and try to get to cover, where people from the woods wouldn't be able to shoot me, a 2/3 way house is also a possibility. I would now lay some fire on the woods while I asked for a scout/sniper to get a clear sight of the woods and try to see if any one moves. If this fails, I would try to flank them, asking a partner do go left while I go right (the sniper is still in position and there is a guy supressing fire). Try to move in silently (prone) on the woods and see if anything moves. If I spot him I would stay still and give my position to the member who went left, when he comes comes near, I would try to shoot the sniper once or twice, luring his attention to me while the other guy can safely walk behind him and get a clean kill.

TEAM:

Move in silently from north and check both firestations for snipers. Send units 1 and 4 to scout to woods for the sniper and position unit 2 on the roof of the north firestation (or the top of the factory tower), since it has a almost clear shot to the shop.

Position unit 1 in the bushes north of the West FireStation. I would then ask the the unit 4 to silently scout the west part of the city and move unit 3 and 4 to the east part of the city, also scouting.

If we manage to find and takedown the sniper, Units 4 5 and 3 would scout further for the riflemans near the shop, reporting everything, by now sniper 1 would cover units 3 and 5 while sniper 2 would cover units 6 and 4. Try to move units 4 5 and 3 to south so there was a chance where the sniper could seen them while covering from the assault units. Supressing fire on their position while covering the medic that will run into the shop from behind (he would have to reposition before doing this) helping unit 6.

If we don't manage to find the sniper, unit 4 will keep scouting the forest hoping to find him while unit 3 and 5 enter the city loudly, warning the sniper, that will probably try to shoot them, giving up his location to unit 4. From here I would do the samething I mentioned in the "If the sniper was found" part.

I would slowly make my way around the northeast of cherno, carefully making my way through the treeline and checking for any survivors, i would then make my way into cherno via the factory complex, as there is lots of cover, and several vantage points to check for snipers, i would then make my way to the medical tents, acquiring any supplies available, I feel it would be too dangerous to venture into the center of the city unarmed, so i would retreat the way i came in, and as carefully as i entered, in order to preserve the precious medical supplies and whatever else i gathered,

I would move in a serpentine manner to the closest form of cover, assuming the general direction of the sniper has been obtained from the shot, i would then slowly make my way into a flanking position, using the eyes of the remaining 3 men to help obtain the actual position, i would keep my head low, and assure everyone is in cover untill the threat has been neutralized. If the remaining men consisted of snipers, i would try to draw the sniper's shots to my position, so our snipers would have an actual location, and a clear shot

from here?

Enter from the northeastern side of elektro, set up point on the northeast hill, ensure the local area is free from snipers, set up a sniper at this location, and sweep the visible area of the city for any signs of threat, ensure the sniper is neutralized before any men make a move into the city, the sniper would remain on the hill providing cover for the rest of the squad, i would then lead the squad west in a stealthy manner, and around toward the back of the store, i would then instruct the medic to bandage up and return our clan mate to a healthy state, after which,our now 6 man squad would perform a sweep of the local area, ensuring that we stay tight and cover 360 degrees in order to kill the remaining 2 riflemen, assuming that they have not already been encountered.

Ok everyone, the base is set up now and we have acquired multiple vehicles. We just need a more diverse range of roles before we are operating on full gears.
