Hesson 1 Posted May 23, 2012 Say you reward players that survive longer or play the game "better", at least in their own way.criteria to reward for:- zombie kills in a single life- hours survived in a single life- items looted/used in a single life (per category or total)- shots hit/fired in a single life or hit percentage- or for the bandits, I hate you all, but you're playing the game in your own way and I respect that; murders in a single life on characters with a certain amount of playing time (to avoid spawn campers)- successfully fully restoring a vehicle- surviving for a certain amount of time under a certain threshold of blood temperature etc- also, perhaps lower requirements that would have to be met several times, like 50 zombies in one life or 15 zombies over 5 lives for example. Just to keep things balanced out between extremely skilled players and those not so great ones.possible rewards- increased blood capacity- increased movement speeds- decreased visibility and noise (smaller zombie aggro radius, not affecting weapon sounds though)- more effective/faster healing, item usage, gear accessibility- large items take up fewer pack slots- less likely to panic around zombies- less likely to suffer from and less severe effects bleed, severe pain, broken bones- faster recover from passing outJust thought I'd throw it out there, I think it would be a great tool to keep people playing and slightly reduce the frustration of people who die after accomplishing something awesome.I'm fine with anyone's input and constructive criticism, but if all you're going to do is accuse me of trying to make the game easier, save yourself the carpal tunnel and troll someone else.Because in case you hadn't noticed, it looks like Rocket has no intention of making this game any easier on any of us and I'd have it no other way. DocHolliday (DayZ) 2 Posted May 23, 2012 Well thought out. I agree with the "rewards" idea. Maybe even "badges" players could receive for zombie or bandit kills and vice versa for player kills by bandits. Sort of an experience type system which would make the player stronger. The more you engage in zombie or PVP combat, explore the elements, the more the player is able to sustain damage, increase weapon accuracy, and ultimately progress in the game. Drinking soda for example could have an effect on player stamina, maybe it already does?
Timberfox 2 Posted May 23, 2012 I dont think i like the concept of rewards like that. It turns it more into, well, a game. Goals, and grinding for stats i think will just detract from the freedom offered in the game. I kinda like logging in each day and not knowing what i'm going to be up to.Additionally, many of the requirements can just be exploited fairly fast. Stick a weight on your keyboard to run alot, grind zombies in a closed building with a shotgun, murder players on the beach.Lots of other 'perk' threads are out there. Check them out for some other opinions on how this would end up effecting the feel of the game.
dale 11 Posted May 23, 2012 Well the essence of a rewards system would have to be two way wouldnt it, so you could go on amount of zombies killed/and the amount of zombies not killed, have you gone 3 days without a single zombie kill? then they find it harder to see you/hear you, have you killed every zombie in sight? then you do more damage to zombies.statistics and perks always work in games like this to improve the aspect or element of that game by offering multiple rewards for the same statistic. You just don't make it shatteringly game changing and it works to the advantage of the player but doesn't make them the rambo of the 'Zland.
