M49A1 - Trip Flare | Or...

Recommended Posts

Very simple early warning system for perimeter breaches, especially useful at night for survivor camps looking to ensure they have an early warning system for anyone approaching night camps.

Pretty simple miltec that could be vastly useful in the "Survival" portion of DayZ, the M49A1 is not just an early warning system but also a potential deterrent to anyone who trips it as it can illuminate an area of roughly 250 meters once fired and stays airborne for over 15 minutes, keeping the tripped area illuminated during its descent, the illuminant cartridge has a self deploying parachute which causes the flare to fall at a slow descent back to the ground.

If this is too high tech, there is no end of tin cans in the game....why aren't there rolls of twine/wire that you can use to combine tin cans + twine/wire for a trip rattle line, which is extremely low tech and easily made even by children.

Just a thought I was having one night on a long watch in a deep forest.

i like this idea, perhaps it is too high tech but then again a wire fencing kit + road flare could produce the same results on a smaller scale

This is a great idea and probably pretty simple to implement.

No need for mines or claymores which some noobs wanted.

+1 - I hope this idea finds its way into the game :)

Really nice idea, would be cool to have them set up somewhere so you knew when people or zeds entered.
