Infection?

Recommended Posts

Most probably this has already been suggested, but how about introducing in the zombie attack the chance of being bitten and then, depending on your health/temperature level, having a variable chance of becoming infected.

Once infected, you could maybe fight the infection by taking antibiotics, either curing it or slowing it. It could use an indicator just like thirst and hunger, but with the Biohazard symbol, something like what I just attached. It would periodically go orange, red and flashing and finally you'd die. For the sake of keeping up hope, maybe if you stayed alive and taking antibiotics for a certain amount of time you could successfully fight the infection and be clean again. However, as the virus keeps mutating, a new bite would probably infect you again.

What is the advantage? It'd make the zombies MUCH more scary and I think that it would allow for new stories to emerge. I also think it is "relatively" cheap to code given the current structure. I know that zombie attacks already have different results and that the script allows to change your character's state after an attack. So it does not seem too difficult or far from current mechanics. Which is of course irrelevant to whether or not this would be desirable, but maybe Rocket would like to experiment it?

Ok, besides the "it's already been proposed" answer, comments?
