New Item - The 'Stash'

Recommended Posts

I would love to see a bit more secure storage. The only guarantee for someone not stealing your stuff is if they can't find it, so I propose:

A rarer version of tents should be something that is low storage, but can be hidden more easily.

What you need:

('stash' item)

(entrenching tool)

(toolbox)

Why is it here?

Clans are very easily raided. Bigger camps = bigger target.

Underground basing is EXTREMELY popular as an idea, this is a hybrid that will work in the ARMA engine.

Your superior ill-gotten gains deserve superior protection!

All it needs to be is a some ground and a bit of steel/tin poking out. It's findable, but only to the sharp eye.

RP Reason

Infected and bandits aren't particularly bright at looting. Sometimes we have that 'little something extra' hidden away for a rainy day. Night Vision goggles, and extra compass or maybe that can of mountain dew you've been saving for when it all goes horribly wrong at your camp. People like to bury things because it's easy, well concealed and only you know where you put it.

What happens?

Entrenching tool for digging the hole.

Stash item for ya know... stashing

Toolbox for a little bit more prestige

And you have a tiny slice of salvation if careless bandits raise your camp to the ground.

Some Balance discussion

How much storage is enough?

How rare should this be?

Is this realistic?

How compatible to the ARMA II engine is this?

Would love to hear all your feedback, flame, praise and critical thinking!

Next suggestion: pack animals.

Get on it.

Tents would be more disposable if people had a secure alternative.

As people wouldn't loose their awesome items do to tent gayness (I put my rangefinders in a full tent, it still hurts!) you'd find a lot more random stuff lying around in tents

Makes sense but should be very rare.

I agree, people with 40+ tents as a base is a little overkill. People with 40+ easily concealed, semi-underground tents is just madness.

Maybe one per player? I don't know how feasible that is to ARMA though. Dropping the rate to next to nothing would be a shame however.

It should just be however many a person is lucky to find. This game can't be about imaginary limitations. Such as only one such and such for so and so. But the storage capacity should be less than a tent for the fact it has to be harder to see. Not totally impossible to see, but harder.

Also, if it has the ability to be locked.. then there has to be a way to break into it. Some sort of tool. Balance with realism.

I Think you just found a use for the crowbar.

Cold not agree more!!!

Locking wasn't something I wanted, it's safety relies on not being found.

My inventory thoughts was well below 9 (no hiding your L8, be a man and bring it with you)

5 is a good number, enough for a bottle of water, compass, box of matches and 1-2 other items you want to have access to should the worst happen
