Meeting new people to play with

Hey guys, i'm about to buy Arma II and install Day Z which i've been looking forward to for a while now but I have one concern. I hear it's better to play with a group but all of my friends are xbox gamers so I have no IRL friends to play with. I was wondering how hard it is to meet people in game and play with them and maybe have a friends list and play more than once. Thanks!

Last time I met someone in-game, and we became friends, I haven't stopped playing with him. We play all kinds of Arma games/mods together. It all started in elektro one night with a "friendly". Try to make friends, just not when u have good gear.

lol aleksandr is correct for the most part. Sometimes though, people shoot a new spawn for no reason. Its pretty annoying. For example, a guy I met earlier only had a pistol out, no other visible gear, we met in the church and I said "Hi, I just spawned outside out town." He looks at me for a second without moving, so i think he heard me, then he shoots me 3 times with his makarov. I run, but im slowly bleeding, so he chases me for nearly 4 minutes wasting his ammo missing, until we get enough zombies around us to where he has to back off. When I finally bandage myself, im @ 2600 blood, so I ran into a pack of zombies and let them finish me.

I wish side chat was on so I could ask him "WTF was the point or that?" We're both under geared, why not stick together for a while. It's more fun and easier to survive....lol I stopped playing for a while cuz its so annoying. Gonna play again though, im loading into a server right now. :)
