DayZ requirements?

The thing keeps saying you need ArmA II and the operation arrowhead extension pack

But can you just buy the ArmA II: operation arrowhead download and then dowload Dayz?

or do I need the ArmA II as well

In other words is buy ArmA II OA the same as buying the combined forces?

No, ArmA II Combined Ops is both ArmA II and ArmA II OA. The map used in DayZ is a map from ArmA II. So you would need either ArmA II : CO, or both ArmA II and ArmA II : OA.
