Ping too high?

okay, so, i just got everything all set up and when i tried to join i managed to get in after 2 tries. i managed to walk around, attract a few zombies, and run screaming like a little girl for about twenty feet before the anti-cheating software (i cannot for the life of me remember what it's called) decided that my ping, being 717, was in the 'I'm a bot' territory and kicked me.

this has repeated itself eight times now, sometimes i get to play for 1-5 minutes before it kicks me from the server, but usually it's the second i connect.

so how fucked am i? is ping based on internet speed? or is it a matter of changing a few options around in my settings?

Some servers have a max ping limit. Try joining a different server with a more favorable ping, your ping to the server is displayed in the server browser.
