Annoying Random FPS Freeze

So i just got DayZ and I have a really good gaming computer, my firends all have computers that are closly the same and dont have any problems with the game. The only difference is I have a Nvidia gts 450 gpu and my friends all have radeon hd 6850. Basically, when I play this mod, The game runs perfectly at high and low graphics with the exceptiong of random fps freezing that happens every 15 secs for 2 secs. No matter what my setting are it still happens. Its still playable but when it comes to combat or running away im screwed. I tried updating my drivers even to the most recent beta. Im using "Six launcher" like my friends incase that matters. Any ideas?

one of my friends said if you reinstall battle eye it might fix it, but i havent tried that yet.

Everytime I try reinstalling it via steam, it acts as if i didnt tell it to do anything... Did anyone else try that?

nah..its not Nvidia cards causing the issue. Not sure what would be causing this. I get the odd freeze but it's rare...sometimes it's like it's trying to load something and FPS drops to 1fps....thankfully it's rare. Must be something on your end, a process or really it could be anything. Post your system specs in detail and what you have running, and perhaps your dxdiag. Then maybe someone could help you get it sorted.

Anyway, I don't know what's causing it, but have you tried RAMDisk? I got improved FPS and less stutters (though I was only getting them now and again, rarely even) and overall smoother gameplay. Worth trying it, I mean it can't hurt unless you're extremely low on RAM, but I only have 2gb and RAMdisk works fine for me (you only need 400mb for dayz on ramdisk anyhow).

Hope you get it sorted, I know how annoying this sort of thing can be.

You could download http://www.moo0.com/?top=http://www.moo0.com/software/SystemMonitor/ and see what it's reporting as the bottleneck during the freeze. What are your FPS when not frozen?

Ramdisk makes a virtual disk but uses your RAM which is far faster. Then all you do is copy over your Dayz folder and point the game to it. Googling is pretty easy lol just type ramdisk into google takes about .001 second :)

Ever since the last beta patch (95417) I've been having my FPS suddenly drop then shoot back up to what it was running at, causing a short stutter/lag/freeze/etc. I had no issues before the patch and it doesn't seem to be a hardware or overheating issue. It's a very annoying problem and also frustrating since I can't pinpoint what is causing it. At this point I have to assume it's the beta patch, but can't be certain since I can't seem to really find anyone else having the problem outside of the 2 or 3 people in this thread.

Yeah I used to get this problem way before dayz in arma/oa. In the Nvidia control panel arma 2 profile I set *Maximum Pre-rendered Frames* to 8 and It sorted it. In your case I would experiment and tweak it a bit because if you set it too high you might get input lag, it will depend on your hardware. It's worth a try anyway....

I'm adding my tuppence worth in.

My FPS is around 8 - 15 running a GTX 670. I've tried dropping all the settings gradually to low/off/default with no effective increase in FPS.

Something is wrong.

And before the usual finger wagging at the system:

• Lots of people are reporting the same thing, with a variety of specs
  
• The majority are saying this occurred after the 2nd to last patch - the same for me

Ive got the same problems. DayZ/Arma used to run smooth but now ive got all this constant lagg /low fps. My brother experience the same thing!

Hmmm, I guess we just have to wait for a fix-patch :/ I finally got my normal FPS liftet from 5-10 to 20-25 but then these FPS drops/freezes comes -.-

Well,ill give ramdisk a try and i cant find that maximun thing in the nvida control panel...

8 is waaaaay too high. Set it to 1 or 2 at the very most. otherwise your CPU is trying to render frames, and GFX cards are faster at doing that than CPU's.
