"Traveling Aspect" of the Game

Recommended Posts

I understand that the reason Rocket is taking out the respawn button is to reduce the stress on servers.

However, I see many arguments that the button should have never been there in the first place. Or that it takes away from the "traveling aspect" of the game. Now I ask what "traveling aspect" do these people refer to? Is it the 20-30 minute runs back to a bigger loot spawn? Because the fact is there is no point in going into small zombie infested cities and spending at least an hour checking for and collecting bottles from all of the low loot spawns. It is a total waste of time. If you like that "aspect" please stay there, it leaves more high end loot for the rest of us in low zombie areas.

What do you gain from that run? Holding down w while you stare at the same trees over and over is not fun. There can be no case made about it. Trying to survive somewhere new is not a viable excuse to force people from respawning.

What other cases can be made for the removal of the respawn button?

I would think that reducing server load would be enough? I personally like the run. I stop in low drop areas and get supplies so that I don't have to do it after getting a gun. Just because you run to the top loot spots doesn't mean that we all do (even though I'm sure it works for you). I, in fact, don't go there even secondly. For me it's food/water > a side arm > medical supplies > primary.

The respawn button is shit imho. Not having it means you have to survive where you are put, not where you choose to be. If you washed up on a zombie infested piece of dirt you wouldn't get to pick where you made land fall.

That said, I pose to you, what other case can you make for keeping the respawn button beside getting to spawn where ever you please? If thats a dynamic that anyone wanted to see included then people would be clamoring for a method to pick their exact respawn point. In that case, might as well set everyone's respawn point to the highest loot ares...hello PVP spawn point camping rape train.

The only good solution to this is letting players decide where they want to spawn, not pinpoint it but maybe something like divide the coast into four or six chunks and let them decide from those. Hate having to kill myself over and over again to get back with my friends after dying.
