Original_Jack 8 Posted July 26, 2012 Tell me what you guys think about this.So my friend and I are rolling around and we find a backpack for my friend that's an upgrade from what he has. (Oh I should start by saying my friend is not very good at this game, he always drops important gear he should keep and stands up randomly when there are zombies around and draws agro etc. he's what a lot of teams might call a "liability" but we are friends irl so w/e.) My friend picks up the new backpack but forgets to transfer his stuff in the old backpack into the new backpack before he picks it up. But after he picks up the new backpack he can't find his old one anymore, I could still see it on my screen but he couldn't on his I guess it sunk into the ground on his screen. (or maybe the camo on the czech backpack was too op) So I try to direct him to where it is but he can't seem to find it...Anyways while this backpack confusion is going on. I see another player sprint past us and run around the corner of the building across the street. I can see that he's carrying some sort of weapon that isn't a hatchet but didn't get a good look at his gear otherwise. I stop what I'm doing with the backpack and I cross the street and start going around the other side of the building he just ducked behind in crouch-move to try to see where he was going. Before I get to the back of the building he comes around the corner and puts himself pretty much right in my crosshairs. I didn't wait to see if he was taking aim at me or anything, I just opened up on him with my M14 without a second thought. He had an AKM, an ALICE pack and some blood packs on him so he wasn't exactly totally new...After he died my friend says to me, "Hey why did you shoot him? Maybe he could have helped us."I responded with, "I'm really not sure what sort of help he could have given us besides giving us all his stuff...which he just did."Do you guys think I was a little too hasty? Normally I would have tried to duck down someplace but my friend and I were kind of making ourselves sitting ducks messing around with the vanishing backpack but we couldn't just leave it there so evading him wasn't really an option. Plus I didn't really trust my friend to be able to back me up if things did turn ugly. This happened in Pustoshka so it was neither airstrip kos or in Cherno deathmatch territory to give you guys some reference. I didn't feel bad at the time but maybe I've become a little too jaded too soon. What do you guys think? Has this game turned me into a cold blooded killer? Cvm 13 Posted July 26, 2012 (edited) The object of the game is to survive. You survived. Edited July 26, 2012 by Cvm
Mister Motivational 24 Posted July 26, 2012 You allowed your friend's limitations to cause you to become more confrontational than you would have otherwise been.I would consider that too trigger happy.Other's might say they were protecting their friend and acted appropriately. calabam 55 Posted July 26, 2012 Shoot first worry about if it was a crowbar or an ak the other guy is carrying and from the sound of it your friend would have also been dead since he's like zero help :P
mattwatson.mail@gmail.com 68 Posted July 26, 2012 I love that this game has created a community of psychiatrists on their forums haha. Sometimes it's just more fun to chase a guy down with your hatchet then waste your time getting to meet and trust them. For all you know someone may park a helicopter on your head tomorrow... murder away my friend.
Rienspy 3 Posted July 26, 2012 I was killed in the back once while filling my water bottle, I was very much pissed off, but I learnt a good lesson: when you see someone who's not your friend, kill him.It may sound rude, but this game is, if you don't kill him, he may kill an other person. Because what do people do when they have nice gear? Right, go camp and kill people... So you do other people a favor by killing their future murderer (I know it sounds like a paradox, but actually this game is about to kill or be killed). You did a good job killing that person, because what would he've done once he earned your thrust?
