Gnyfs 2 Cents: Fauna and Flora

Recommended Posts

First of all, I would like to thank Rocket for making this awesome game/sim, I can't put it down.

Over the next couple of days/weeks, I'm gonna attempt too give you my two cents on this project and spitball some suggestions out there.

Disclaimer: This is just a compilation of my ideas, they are open for discussion, but please keep it civilized. Leave the "I don't want that" remarks out, and if my ideas are horrible, then argue why they won't work.

I know some of the stuff I will be posting isn't possible with the ARMAII engine and what not, but lets leave it at that, and hopefully the dev team could get some great ideas out of it.

Today I will be focusing mainly on fauna and flora around the wonderful state of Chernarus.

Too start with, I'd like too see more animals around Chernarus, not just the ones that are already present, but also other animals native to Russia. For example, wolves, foxes, bears, hares and roe deer. Heck, even a some more domestic animals like cats, dogs or horses. And in greater numbers.

Birds would be nice to see as well, ducks, geese, swans etc.

I've noticed that the zeds don't care much about the roaming animals, which gives a good reason to why their numbers would drastically increase, given the circumstance that there are few humans around.

Pros:

- More variety to wildlife.

- Better hunts.

- A realistic way of survival, in case of a zombie apocalypse.

Cons:

- Getting meat becomes very easy.

- Being mauled by a bear sucks.

- So is being attacked by a wolf pack.

- Getting run down by a boar.

Fixes:

Due to the higher number of animals, smaller game gives less/no meat (dependent on what you shoot it with), but are in bigger numbers. Bigger game could be more scarce or restricted to deep forests.

I enjoy hunting in this game, I like wondering the wilderness, filling my canteens when I'm at a lake and continuing my hunt.

Fishing?!

Eggs? why are there roaming chickens and chicken coops, but no eggs?

Snares and traps, for fishing and hunting?

I don't know much about the russian flora, but there should be edible plants and mushrooms to be found in Chernarus, even poisonous ones.

Imagine taking out your pots and pans?, light up a fire, boil some water and add ingredients. You don't know what, what is, and become sick because you added a poisonous plant. Shrooms would be fun, having people fucked up and hallucinating.

Anyways, thats it for now, I might update this later

Next time on Gnyfs 2 Cents: Weapons... or maybe something completely different.
