Animals in dayz

Recommended Posts

Hey. So are there any general locations you can find animals or are they spawned randomly? Also how hard is it to kill an animal, how many bullets does it take, do they run away?

Usually take 1-2 depends where u shoot them and they usually spawn in open fields but i think the spawns are somewhat random :P

I suggest trying to find it out by yourself, exploring is one of the core parts of game

In open field or you can find pigs in forests. Rabbits are EVERYWHERE and chickens to. As for how many bullets well somtimes the pig and goat are the god dam strongest things the game and just will not die haha invincible pig.

this, but i'll spoil it for you coz u asked for it;

-takes 1 maybe 2 to kill

-they dont run, they have the insane ability to just disapear tho!

-they spawn anywhere and everywhere but for example, a boar will mostly spawn in woods and a cow on open plains.

If you look around search near farms, open fields etc. You'll see them just standing there, there spawns are random though, depending on your weapon it takes about 1 or 2 times to kill an animal. And no they just stay there so its pretty easy to slaughter em ;D

I spent about 4 hours the other day up north looking for animals as my health was getting low and I only had one tin of beans, I didn't find any and eventually died. Last night within an hour or two of spawning I had killed a boar, a goat and a cow and had a backpack full of steaks.

It is pretty random, I think the hardest part about becoming self sufficient is finding bloody matches!

I found matches in an outdoor toilet :D

Thanks for the replies guys.

I don't think this is spoiling the game. Common sense doesn't always apply to DayZ, I might have spent an hour silently approaching a boar only to find out it doesn't move ;)

I spent an hour the other day hunting a cow for steaks, it was only after killing it that I realised I didn't have a knife to gut it although I had every other tool you could imagine!

I guess if you have wood and matches to actually cook the meat, you usually also have a hatchet. So just use that to kill the animal instead of thinking about how many bullets you have to waste.
