What happened on US175?

I normally am facinated by other player's actions. So whenever I come upon some corpses I try to figure out what happened to them. But tonight I came upon a scene I could not figure out.

On server US175, at approx. 11:50pm EST on 7/15/12 I saw the killed message for 5 people. And I thought, "man that must have been quite a fight." About 5 minutes later I found their corpses in the town square building in Electro. 5 people, scattered on all floors, even the roof. 2 hatchets and 1 shotgun among them. I heard no explosions nor shots fired, as I was nearby. There were not enough guns to account for the damage, and not enough time for someone to have come before me and looted everyone.

So what in the world happened? Some kind of hacker attack? Logged in from another server and died logging in? Lag bomb? Freaking me out man!
