I've done nothing but solo since I started playing this game. Once you get the hang of it, it's really not that hard. I've gone from nothing to full survival kit (hatchet/knife/matches/canteen) four or five times by now. Current character is on day 14, all solo. I just finished raiding a hospital for morphine, bandages, and painkillers, and I have a tent stocked with enough cooked meat to heal me ten times over.

Game isn't broken, solo works just fine.
