Question about getting Day Z

I tried looking through a few forums such as FAQ's and whatnot, but I'm still unsure of what all I need to play Day Z.

I understand you need Arma 2, and the Op Arrowhead expansion, but a friend said i could use arma 2 free, and buy arrowhead and it would still work.

could I get a c/d? thanks <3

Arma 2 free has shit textures, and DayZ will stop supporting free Arma 2 in the future, so just spend the money for the real deal..

It's ok if your willing to spend $29.99 on steam, get it, that way you can get updated patches for both games and enjoy the game legit.

Go on steam and type in "Arma II" and click on combined operations. You get both the games, and then you must download/install the dayz mod.

The X Anniversary Edition is pretty cheap now and you'll get the PMC/BAF DLC too which improve some textures in DayZ. And some other ARMA goodies.

It's $30-something? Worth it.

EDIT: Scratch that, the price went back up to 40-something.
