Server shotdown when Admin goes offline

Recommended Posts

When we startet DayZ we choosed "Bisamberg" as homeserver, because of a good hoster, an for us good timegroup and the funny name.

The Problem is, we find out that the Server is only online when the Admin "BBC" is online. when he goes offline, he shutdown the server.

we overwatched this for more than a week, it was every time.

What is the full server name?

Or the IP of the server?

LOL? all the real admin abuse reports/hackers/script kiddies and you guys choose to deal with a server over an issue that is technically within the server hosting rules

And no, I am not part of BBC nor do I play on their server(s)

No they can't. An admin shutting the server down when he's offline to protect his camps/ vehicles is against TOS

Scheduled downtime, there is no thing in their AUP that says "hey you can't shutdown your server for scheduled downtime events"

I'm pretty sure he's allowed to shutdown the server any time he likes but if he's doing it for his camp safety someone from the dev team should confront him. That's just wrong.

As long as there is hacks to locate vehicles and stuff, i`d call it a legit move.

It would piss me off to see the server going down, while i want to play -of course, or going down as a reaction to something happening in game.

But it is not as fishy as passwording or kicking people since up- and downtime offer equal chances to play for everyone

without abuse of the "lockdown, loot, swarming out to the rest of the hive".

I'm not part of bbc either - but i think you forget someone is paying good money for the server you play on for free. And all they get in exchange is risk of losing hive access, unthankful commentary on the forums and if leaving the server up being nagged about random visitors hacking and being mistaken for admin actions.

So in short:

-get over your hartzIV mentality

-you got equal chance to play

-contact the admin yourself and offer your assistance for the time he is offline.

There is nothing in the server TOS that says the server has to be up 24/7. That is not part of the agreement.

The agreement states that the server cannot be locked or passworded, and that the server has to be open to the public.

There is absolutely nothing in the agreement that says the server cannot be shut down and left offline.

If you believe the admin of that server is doing it to protect his camps, well thats all fine and good, but that is also an assumption on your part. He might be doing it just so hackers don't use his server as a playground while hes offline.

This, due to( whoever the admin in this thread is) I cannot give id but I also shut my server down (even though it's just a game server and bandwidth doesnt mean shit to me) when noone from my clan is online. YES, i guess those that own vehicles on my server cannot access them about 8 hours in a 24 hour day (night time for me) but at least they know that the server will not get nuked AND that (kind of cheating) but there is a lower chance of someone finding camps and vehicles. This attracts many players and usually the second i start the server up it fills up 45-50/50 within minutes and I can recognize many names.

This is no where near as harmful as locking/passwording a server. Plus, some of those older servers or the dedicated servers can have battleye set to off and admins can spawn items (yes... been there, done that [not personally disabled BE but know server admins that have])
