US 1053 Shutting Down; Thanks, Hackers

Recommended Posts

I know it's an Alpha, I'm sorry, but I am not blowing away $40/month to a server host company that allows me to play a game filled with hacking & on top of that getting hacked every single day. Every day the server was open, at least 1 hack per day & the server has been open for less than 7 days. Oh & not to mention that the whole private server deal is not allowed...it could be done, but it isn't being done.

US 1053 is hereby closed for this primary reason.

I can't say I disagree with this at all, Camco88. Until the DayZ group takes an active stance against these hackers, this mod isn't worth my time. I waited for months for ARMA 2 to go on sale, finally pick it up, and after a week, I can't believe I blew my money away for this. It was a great experience, for the first day, and then hackers became a daily part of my DayZ experience.

I'll give it to you, though. This is a great concept, one that initially has been handled very well. The survival aspects, the ambience, the paranoia. However, something about a guy I gunned down, appearing across the field from me only a few minutes later, across the map from the coast, and blowing my brains to the other side of the map with a sniper rifle just destroys any desire for me to play this.

Hacktrolls, you win again.

In three days, we were mass warped three times, among a slew of item hackers, invisibles, and invincibles. We know that just about every other server is experiencing these problems, and to them, I say kudos for their persistence and dedication. You have the wherewithal and patience to deal with this on a regular basis and that is awesome. Awesome, awesome, awesome!

Sadly, some of us just don't see it as worth $40 per month to keep up a server with needless problems every day. It's not just admins and their friends, but it ruins the whole experience for every single one of the forty players who enjoy getting onto our server. In our short week running, we've already noticed a few people settle down in our server. It's wonderful to see that sort of thing and we're sorry to shut down on you guys, but it's too much of a headache to deal with script kiddies abusing an immensely exploitable and unprotected game--Especially when there is almost no easy-access, user-friendly server-side support.

Maybe--Just maybe--DayZ will turn out great by beta, and most hopefully by full version release, but right now, there is so much that is counter-intuitive about how the whole thing is being handled.

We love this game, which is why we also are so frustrated with it. It has so much potential, but it simply does not seem to be getting the major problems addressed as needed. We hope Rocket has a good set of priorities, and again, we appreciate all the hard work he's put in for DayZ, but it just doesn't appear as though things are getting prioritized appropriately

Fun game, dumb restrictions, wish the developers luck in the future. Cancelling my server as well due to hackers and the inability to do away with them without having to jump through hoops of fire.

Hey _tox_, no, wherever you were, it wasn't us you attacked when the server went down. Except for two of us together with low-tier weapons, the other two of us on at the time were way apart. We have no problem being killed by other players as that's a great part of the game. Most of us has been killed within the last day or two--Me at least three times. We had simply been mulling the idea over today and decided then was a good time. Sorry amigo that everything timed that way.

Still haven't come across a hacker in 94 hours logged (steam)

Maybe I just don't join full servers?

This is why you play on private servers, if the admins are competent they usually do some form of constant backup.

I completely understand where you guys are coming from, but you can't blame DayZ/Rocket for the hackers.

You can and should blame the fuck out of Bohemia Interactive, though. For those of you that have been playing ArmA II for more than DayZ, or before DayZ was even around, you know that hackers have always been a huge issue - and have never fucking been addressed by BI. It's absolutely infuriating: between the shoddy, game-breaking beta patches, the unnecessarily complex and convoluted mission editor/bug report forums, and their complete and absolute inability to handle a problem as simple as a handful of script kiddies destroying their game (Punkbuster? Anyone? It's a pile of shit, but Goddamn if it ain't better than BattlEye).

I mean, let's be real. BI is fucking Godawful. I love this game, but I feel like the majority of their team has absolutely no idea what they are doing, at all, ever. I'm sure I'm not the only one, and I know I'm not the only one that's tired of hackers, game breaking patches that don't actually introduce any new or useful content to the game, and whatever else is on the long list of annoying shit that happens with ArmA II.

inb4 QQ quit crying don't play the game faggot
