kirbsee 2 Posted July 25, 2012 Since all characters are saved to the hive server, why not have a process run to check character files for hacked-in items and auto-ban their CD-Key or GUID? Also, would it not work to have servers automatically local-ban and report users when scripts containing certain elements are run and shown in the console? I'm sure something like this is not difficult to create, and it could work efficiently. Sorry if there is something I don't know about and this wouldn't be possible.Cheers,Altan
Blakorr 77 Posted July 25, 2012 thank you for your submission, altan. i think this is an excellent idea and i can't believe the mods haven't already thought of this.
kirbsee 2 Posted July 25, 2012 thank you for your submission, altan. i think this is an excellent idea and i can't believe the mods haven't already thought of this.Honestly, even a coding newbie such as myself could make something that would use idle power to weed out hackers. Sure, it wouldn't get them all in one swoop, but just letting something like that run wouldn't do any harm. If the hive server really doesn't have that much trouble even at peak times like Rocket claims, why wouldn't it be possible?
Psyl3nt 125 Posted July 25, 2012 BattleEye does this, scanning the database for hacked in items could work, but then I guess you have the issue of people looting hacked items from a cheaters corpse or being "given" items, getting detected and then banned. icomrade 201 Posted July 25, 2012 Seriously, don't you think if you could do it it would have been done already?

Psyl3nt 125 Posted July 26, 2012 I wouldn't say that just because something hasn't been done that it "can't" be done . . if everyone thought this way we would still be living in caves :)
