Why is DayZ/Arma so easily hacked?

Recommended Posts

Yesterday, my friend and I were trying to meet near solnichniy to play together, I was on a different server than him. He reached solnichniy and then just started raging.. I asked him what happened and he said everyone on the server got teleported to one point and got massacred... THank god i was about to switch to his server......

Why is it so easy for hackers to exploit this game?

Is battleye almost as useless as VAC?

Mainly its because Arma II's focus was primarily cooperative teamplay, and hacking was almost a non-issue.

From what I can tell, almost everything is controlled client side with no sanity checks to the server. If you can make your client do something, the server will accept that action as legit.

well because before dayz, a majority of arma 2's mp was cooperative, and as well arma 2 has a lot of trust in the client side since hacking was never really a over the top issue.

VAC is probably the most advanced hack detection software available at the moment since it does ban a lot of accounts regularly and has very few false positives.

I've seen it ban people live a lot since I play a lot of competitive Source-based games and competitions attract a hell of a lot of cheaters. I've never seen someone banned by Punkbuster who wasn't banned already, and I've never seen Battleye ban someone, but it's early Dayz yet.

Compare it to Punkbuster which stops legit players from getting in to games while hackers run amok on servers enjoying themselves with their 50:1 kill-death ratio (I don't know how that's fun, ever).

I don't know a lot about Battleye but I can tell you I'm so happy that ARMA don't use Punkbuster!

Battleye is so bad of a anti cheat.

I got fail VAC banned because of internet issues and the steam people admitted it was a wrong ban but still cant remove it, so VAC is bad.

Punkbuster is just no.

Gamersfirst (apb) just no...

Maybe we should have our own anti cheat, as im sure rocket is in close contact with the arma people and someone would be able to do it.

False positives in VAC are 1 in 2,000 or something nuts like that. Sucks all the same, but I trust it before any other anti-cheat since I've seen it work first hand several tens of times.
