Run Battlefield 3 but not this?

Recommended Posts

AMD Phenom II X4 945 (Quad Core 3.00 GHz)

6GB DDR2 RAM (2 x 2GB + 2 x 1GB Memory)

Radeon HD 5770 (1GB Video Card)

It's really choopy and it takes a couple seconds for things to render properly.

I've turned the video settings at it's lowest possible with no difference from high settings.

Any suggestions?

Please and thank you.

Have you disabled everything that can be disabled in the advanced video options? If not, try that.

Otherwise... maybe a different server?

Also, google optimising performance arma 2 or something, there are other settings in config etc you can alter that help with some things.

Video card drivers all up to date? You can do this via steam if you are using that?

You should be alright. It takes a bit of tweaking sometimes to get the game running well. Have you got x64 windows?

Also, you should install Arma 2 and OA on a hardrive that is not your system drive. Makes a huge difference in performance.

Everything is up to date. Every server lags. Changing the in game video settings was the first thing I changed but no improvement. The next final step for me is OCing my video card which I hate doing because of the loud fans I have.

I Point you to http://dayzmod.com/f...phics-properly/

Failing that - I'm sorry but i previously owned a AMD Phenom II X4 965 oc'd to 4.2g stable and was VERY unhappy with the performance. even with the high

Decent link, need more detail than your basic video settings. In today's world, my CPU speed is the standard and of course there are better ones to OC on.

Did you try this which was in that post ? helps abit

Advanced Settings

I just found this out and it can GREATLY increase your FPS. It doubled for me, I was at a steady 30+ before while now I get a steady 60+.

Go to your documents folder, in there you find an Arma 2 folder (you can also go via start -> run and then type "%userprofile%\Documents\ARMA 2\" without quotes in windows 7 or vista). In that folder are Arma2.cfg and Arma2oa.cfg, edit those files and change the 2 corresponding lines to this:

GPU_MaxFramesAhead=1;
GPU_DetectedFramesAhead=1;

Your setup should be able to run the game.

What are your settings right now? Can you screenshot them? (with the advanced settings up)

What OS are you running? w7?

I suggest you try out Arma 2 single player (don't load DayZ files) and run a couple of missions with alot of action in them and see if they are smooth or not.

Arma 2 is a CPU heavy game and I don't know much about AMD these days since I've been using Intel for the past 10 years, but check your CPU load during gameplay. Arma 2 is only dualthreaded so 1 core = 100%, 2 core = 50%, 4 core = 25% etc when it's fully loaded.
