Snares, Mushrooms and Debris Huts

Recommended Posts

Great mod, keep up the good work Rocket, will be happy to donate in future! Good to see the new temperature system, thought I’d make some suggestions for possible future content, surprisingly I've not seen anything about snares before, sorry if I've missed it.

I’ve been thinking about survival in the woods and I feel these are a must:

Snares could be left in the wild and have a chance of catching squirrels or rabbits after a certain time. They would need to be persistent and attached to the player. Unlike tents, other players should be able to pick them up if they come across them. There would obviously need to be a limit on how many you could place at once or they’d end up everywhere.

Mushrooms should spawn randomly in forests and be able to be picked up. Mushrooms could either be eaten raw or you could use water/fire or similar to create mushroom stew. When eating mushrooms there should be a percentage chance of it making you ill and a lower chance of it killing you . To avoid users posting a guide on the internet to what ones are edible and what are not, we could have a ‘guide to edible mushrooms(book)’ loot item. If you have this book in your inventory you will not risk becoming ill/dying when eating them.

Debris Huts should be buildable in the woods and would require a lot of wood/branches. They should shelter you from the effects of rain but be less efficient than a tent (assuming tents can shelter you now, I’ve not come across one yet!)
