The importance of banditry

Recommended Posts

Consider past deaths and what those deaths have done for you? What would DayZ be without bandits?

Bandits promote replay value as any form of death does. I'm one who firmly believes death is a doorway to a new life... obviously.. and that makes me want to play more and get all my shit back. Many individuals believe in off the wall forms of ridding DayZ of this, and I ask why? What would happen if all players were friendly or forced to be friendly? Eventually you will reach a perpetual life cycle that forces players to play nice to keep their equipment they've worked so hard for, else be punished by spontaneously bleeding or suffering from some form of schizophrenia or PTSD which could be fatal in many situations. This will result in player confrontations that are more redundant and meaningless. What would DayZ be without players killing each other?

A wise man once said "bandits are just survivors with other means of surviving" - Riis, this statement couldn't be more true. I encourage people to consider this.. and perhaps shut the fuck up next time they make a suggestion maybe develop different outlooks perhaps discourage specific hunting techniques *cough* elektro-hill *cough* toast point.

So this piece was dedicated to those whom are fucking retarded which should be directed to this next time they decide to open their face. Decided when I woke up today that I was going to do great things.. I'm waiting.

May the piss-wars commence!

Well, this point has been made before but I agree.

If this game had no Friendly Fire and everyone was on the same side it would get boring very quickly.

Sneaking up to a town, constantly thinking your head could explode at anytime is part of the fun.

People crying about dieing should think of this game in the same light as they would play Dark Souls.

You ARE going to die, when you die is yet to be determined.

Exactly.

Although people that snipe main towns for no other reason than to rack a murder count arn't bandits.

I'm not against bandits. I like a lot of things derived from them. I just hate sniper rifles. I firmly think the game would be healthier without them. We would have more setups, gunfights and more interesting things instead of just dropping dead from a mile away with no fun gained from it.

Oh hell no!

Sniper rifles are one of the best things in the game. It is great when you are on the edge of Cherno or Electro and you have look around and find the path you should run so you don't get shoot if someone is camping on the hill, it creates such a good atmosphere. Then when someone is shooting you see the stream of infected charging at them (Unless they are extremely far away then all you need to do is dodge them).

I disagree dude, Chernarus is HUGE with massive open areas that were made for sniping, lying in wait (or camping) is perfectly valid in day z. If i was forced to choose between abolishing sniper rifles and every other type of gun in the game, you bet your ass id keep the sniper rifles.

i aggree that bandits is important thing in this game but what most of people are telling that there is too much of the bandtis thus making a game like COD with zombies and its boring because its doesnt makes any interactions with players, only shooting

the creator of the game wanted that player had to think what he does and feel differend emotions when meeting player like example

"shit i see someone is he friendly?,maybie not,do i shoot ir do i not?oh shit its so intense, maybie i should run,or talk too him and trade,oh my god i dont know"

but now its only

"oh player....(BANG)" take his stuff,or even kill just for fun

there are acctualy some strangers that i teamed up,but i dont trusted them so i didnt stayed long with them but just left them thus its makes game more intresting becouse you have to make desicions

and btw im a bandit i have some murders now but i kill only if realy need something,or im starving,if not im trying to talk with strangers but offcourse being carefull and dont leting my guard.

but i aggree game without bandits would be a bit boring unless they make facing zombies realy hard, and when i mean realy hard i mean REALY FUCKING HARD

( and sorry if bad English)

That's exactly what it would be in real life, would it not? I'm not trying to support a fully realistic game (though I do support Time Glitch: http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/20112-the-only-realistic-way-to-prevent-deathmatching-make-dayz-a-living-hell/) but weapons such as sniper rifles are very efficient weapons - making every bullet count, high accuracy ensures a kill, but to make sniper rifles a necessity instead of a luxury, ammunition drops for all weapons should be lowered.

But put yourself in this scenario (as if IRL) You approach someone and you don't know whether or not they saw you. You know they are armed by the pistol they grip - you only have 1 life and you are capable of ending his. Killing this person would guarantee some additional scraps to live off of if not at least he has a weapon, and more importantly, bullets - You can either kill him, or risk aggression and potentially your death. If you think about it playing with a partner isn't necessarily much easier in a real life situation either. More people means more scavenging to sustain everyone. Granted, DayZ is much easier to find food and water then it would probably be in a real collapse of society, particularly weapons.. but a game can't be boring, can it?
