FunkyHermitCrab (DayZ) 95 Posted July 24, 2012 Yes, lost forever.I once returned fire on someone who was loot camping the Berezino military tents and he logged out when I hit him. A moment later he spawned back inside a tent but was unconscious and bleeding.I got all the loot but no bandit kill :(
Rakkasan 23 Posted July 24, 2012 Sooo, I just shot some guy, he alt-f4'ed I guess, but I got the murder, however no flies, no body.If he alt-F4'd and you killed him his body would still be there, even if he aborted out he would just be respawning into a new body on the shore.Changed to his new server, and no body either. is it lost forever?Um....how do you know what server he went to? Lucky guess?
Zacharyne 6 Posted July 24, 2012 Actually curious about this myself. Do bodies have a despawn timer?I once killed a mang and he disappeared a couple of seconds after. Watched his body sink into the floor before my very eyes.
Genuine 2 Posted July 24, 2012 Um....how do you know what server he went to? Lucky guess?Saw his name when I killed him and got the murder, then used DayZ Commander to track him. His name was Budder, hes on US344 right now. Seems thats his regular server, he is a member of these forums.

Genuine 2 Posted July 24, 2012 yes, they have a 15 minute timer. His body wasn't on the server i killed him in or the new server I went to to follow him though. Also, it says the new server he is in is DayZ version 1.7.1.5 , how is that possible? Maybe is a glitch?
Jonthe1 0 Posted July 24, 2012 His body has entered the after life. Gone from the world he has.
Genuine 2 Posted July 24, 2012 Damn, he had a Ghilli I wanted :-(
red_orchestra@msn.com 112 Posted July 24, 2012 He probably alt+f4'd on death. That makes your body sink into the ground.

So his name scrolled in chat "Budder was killed" and no body or flies? The body loot timer is very unstable right now. I have lost my own corpse on death before. That is my friend saw me die and my corpse instantly disappeared. Then there are times I have ran back taking hours to do so, and it is there. Same with players I have killed. Very touchy system. Redshift 58 Posted July 25, 2012 My understanding is that if someone aborts out (or alt F4) after they die but before respawning then their body will disappear. It's kind of like combat logging but they are already dead, you get the murder count but they are robbing you of their loot. It has happened to me on occasion as well. Damn, he had a Ghilli I wanted :-( I do not believe that you can loot skins that someone is wearing, only it if it currently in their inventory.
Momiji 46 Posted July 25, 2012 Can't loot skins they are wearing, you wouldn't have gotten his Ghillie.
