Body or No Body?

Sooo, I just shot some guy, he alt-f4'ed I guess, but I got the murder, however no flies, no body.

Changed to his new server, and no body either. is it lost forever?

Yes, lost forever.

I once returned fire on someone who was loot camping the Berezino military tents and he logged out when I hit him. A moment later he spawned back inside a tent but was unconscious and bleeding.

I got all the loot but no bandit kill :(

If he alt-F4'd and you killed him his body would still be there, even if he aborted out he would just be respawning into a new body on the shore.

Saw his name when I killed him and got the murder, then used DayZ Commander to track him. His name was Budder, hes on US344 right now. Seems thats his regular server, he is a member of these forums.

yes, they have a 15 minute timer.

His body wasn't on the server i killed him in or the new server I went to to follow him though. Also, it says the new server he is in is DayZ version 1.7.1.5 , how is that possible? Maybe is a glitch?

He probably alt+f4'd on death. That makes your body sink into the ground.

Gotcha. So you were playing with on regular server with name tags on. So his name scrolled in chat "Budder was killed" and no body or flies?

The body loot timer is very unstable right now. I have lost my own corpse on death before. That is my friend saw me die and my corpse instantly disappeared. Then there are times I have ran back taking hours to do so, and it is there. Same with players I have killed. Very touchy system.

My understanding is that if someone aborts out (or alt F4) after they die but before respawning then their body will disappear. It's kind of like combat logging but they are already dead, you get the murder count but they are robbing you of their loot. It has happened to me on occasion as well.

I do not believe that you can loot skins that someone is wearing, only it if it currently in their inventory.

Can't loot skins they are wearing, you wouldn't have gotten his Ghillie.
