Spawning without a backpack?

Hello people of the DayZ forums. I come to you today to ask for your assistance with a problem I am currently having. After installing this wonderful game I for some reason or another do not spawn with a backpack. Not only do I not spawn with a backpack, I cannot see or pick up any other Backpacks.

Anyone that can assist me with this problem shall be rewarded in the after life. Your help is much appreciated.

I though I would also add, that I am currently running the latest patch.
