A few noob questions about doors and such

Recommended Posts

Well I started and I'm getting hindered by a few things. could someone answer these questions for me:

1) How can I tell if a door can be opened or not without going close and seeing the option to open it doesn't appear? I've died going for an open door I then couldn't close and the other door within the small room not being an openable one.

2) Can anything asides guns be used as a weapon? I found a hatchet once, but I'm not sure if it can be used as a weapon.

3) What's the easiest way to find a gun? I've played 3 times now and found some mags, but never a gun. Always had to resort to running if I was seen.

1) looteble houses have windows that are transparant, you can look inside.

2) hachets can be used as a melee weapon, just move it from the toolbelt to your primary weapon slot (right click hachet -> move from toolbar) hachet needs to be reloaded before you can use it.

3) weapons can be found in grocery stores, barns, appartments, villa's , firestations, Millitary bases, airstrips, military camps.

hope this will help and have fun playing

thanks, now I won't waste my time by tryign to search a house I can't get into. Wish I had known the hatchet thing when the zombie had me cornered and I had nothing else at hand.

I found watching a few youtube videos first, it can help with familiarity of enterable buildings and some other useful info.

Don't forget DayZ wiki, loads of useful stuff on there.

Welcome to the forums
