Laggy/ blurry when moving

Recommended Posts

I have a good nvidia graphics card but the game never selects it, instead it chooses the standard laptop one. How can I make Dayz or even Arma 2 OA select the better graphics card? I can't just right click on the icon as it doesn't offer thee option.

any help appreciated, cheers.

You could try sticking -maxVRAM=<number> on your target line.

'Edit' Just out of curiosity what GPU do you have?

Sorry not great on computers, what do you mean by the target line? Normally for a game such as minecraft I can make the good graphics card the default but obviously dayz is a bit different.

My GPU is the GeForce GT 540m.

If you're starting the game manually. I.e. via a shortcut for the game, right click> properties> Shortcut tab> then your target should be something like this for DayZMod.

"E:\Program files\Bohemia Interactive\ArmA 2\Expansion\beta\arma2oa.exe" -beta=Expansion\beta;Expansion\beta\Expansion -mod=@dayz -nosplash

Just pop -maxVRAM=<number> on the end don't forget to put your video memory size on the end in MB. Example: -maxVRAM=1024

Edit: here is some info on your card http://www.geforce.co.uk/hardware/notebook-gpus/geforce-gt-540m

The blurry effect could probably be associated with the POSTPROCESS EFFECT, which you can disable in the menu.

And how can you be sure the game is selecting the wrong GPU? Where did you get that info? Because let me tell you this, my friend has an ALIENWARE m14 with a GT555m and it struggles a little bit to run, even on normal settings.

I am in the process of making a shortcut but I am stuck at setting the target. I have tried a few things but can someone please write down or tell me excatly what I need to put in the field, I am following the wiki guide and it says this:

Set the Target to: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\arma 2 operation arrowhead\Expansion\beta\arma2oa.exe" "-beta=Expansion\beta;Expansion\beta\Expansion" "-mod=C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\arma 2;Expansion;ca;@dayz" -nosplash

I think it is rrunning the crappy GPU becaus eit does it as standard for all games and was the default for steam etc.
