I would like the gamme increase to be removed

Recommended Posts

dear community,

i have recently inspectet cherno at night. i was looking at a whole bunch of players who just spawned on the beach and could not have a NVG. i was wondering how they are able to navigate that easy at night without using Flashlight or Flares. My mate gave me the answer in a voice like im a total noob. he was like "dude, just turn gamma up". i was shocked to see how easy it is to see at night with gamma turned on.

in the woods it is not as good but it is still good enough so you dont need a flashlight.

i really like using the flashlights and it give so much atmosphere to see players in the distance using it. i was already wondering why i was seeing less and less flashlights / flares, but now it is clear to me.

i would love to see that option removed / limited to FORCE ppl using their light tools (flashlight, flares, chemlights) to be able to survive at night. nowadays everyone just pops up gamma and night becomes day. and that is not ok and destroys alot of night atmosphere...

would love to read your opinions!

greetings

sudden

In real life, humans eyes adjust to the darkness due to the abscene of light, making it easier to see in the dark. Since game engines can't handle functions like this, it's a legit way to play at night.

In other words:

Deal with it.

That trick doesn't help when the moon isn't out, map stays pitch black and adjusting the settings just makes it pitch grey.

And what happens if people can't play without needing to adjust gamma? Too bad so sad?

Yes, I have met people that need to turn up the brightness or adjust gamma to see in games, and you can easily see this when you watch some youtube videos as their brightness ingame is fine for them, but on your computer it blinds you.

Plus, they did recently nerf the gamma max.

Interesting...

If I couldn't turn my gamma up the night-time play might make the game unbearable to play, to be honest. But interesting idea. I don't see video settings being taken away.

I guess the thing I first noticed was how unrealistically dark the night actually is. With normal video settings you literally don't see a thing. The tree in front of your face is as black as the rest of it. That's not realistic. Gamma helps. It may make it even more realistic. When running through a forrest or a town at night with gamma/brightness up it resembles the kind of lighting I'd experience with a full moon. IRL, with a full moon I can see at night just fine.

I think the thing I'm learning is if I see someone using a flare/chem/flashlight then I'm more prone to label them as "noob". I'm happily still in that category.

Right, because me not being in the military makes it so I magically can't see in the woods at night.

....

What the fuck are you talking about? Your eyes adjust to the darkness and you can see BETTER. I didn't say you could see every intricate detail of a tree at night, just that it's easier to see a God damn tree.

im just telling you there are situations where you cannot see without extra light no matter how much your eyes adjust. i just want to see flashlights used more often i mean look, if you are going into a house, when there is not light, you are not able to see and especially not be able to spot little things lying on the ground
