thoughts about Zed's Vehicles and misc stuff

Recommended Posts

First of all I will start with my opinion on Zombies.

We have 3 kinds of zombies at the moment:

1. Usain Bolt

2. Crouching

3. Crawling

As the Infection only killed most part of the brain leaving primitive hunting and movement patterns with the brainstem, we don't know how it affects the rest of the body. They could have tumors all over their body which makes them more bulletproof than others. Others just produce hormones of muscle growth or grow in size (growing in size is possible today with an abuse of medicine due to ).

Im not talking about "Boss" Zeds which give extraordinary loot, but be a tougher challenge for player than Zombies are at the moment - just to get clear: no loot from these, just challenge.

A change of the zombie spawn system would be necessary here, every time a zed is spawned a dice is rolled e.g.

and if you don't think there is any infect-related modification of the body i still would bring in, that people in Chernarus don't look all the same, some of them go to the gym, some do endurance sports, and others just love to eat or get tougher by "a bullet a day keeps the doctor away"

  • <= 200 it spawned a slow & easy killable zombie
  • > 200 <= 400 it spawned Usain Bolt
  • > 400 <= 600 it spawned Mike Tyson
  • > 600 <= 800 it spawned Manuel Uribe (tough and bulletproof)
  • > 800 <= 1000 it spawned something which has a little bit of all of the above

numbers are just used as display value and have to be tweaked

Loot.. this brings me to another point.

Military Zombies, why are they just as easy to kill as civilian Zombies? They wear bulletproof vests and helmets, so why is it so easy to kill them. They should take WAY more shots to the chest and 2 headshots from far but still one from near.

But wait - thats not all, soldiers also wear military goods, in fact they tend to drop ammunition, but they also could drop grenades - that would be far to boring, somehow the grenades explode (which not also can kill, but also alarm even more zombies to the current location).

Also military personnel is better trained then a usual civilian, they tend to be stronger, faster, tougher. So military zombies should be stronger or MUCH stronger than usual civilian zombies. This would also prevent early survivors to go to military zones and stick to rural areas, as military zombies would them kill easy.

// I know this would make elektro and cherno even worse for new players as even more snipers would be here to camp the firehouses. But new spawned players should think twice if it's worth to get shot by a sniper or stick to the smaller cities and lock here for loot.

Even if the grenade stuff sounds way too off, military Zombies should be tougher than usual Zombies.

Another thing i would like to see (which already was mentioned so i give it only a short cut) are deadlier forrests.

Infected animals and wolves or bears would do this job. Also I don't get why boars stand still when I come near them, as far as I know they would either run away or attack me.

While wolves and bears would provide meat, infected animals would be uneatable so I would prefer them over normal animals.

Another thing I was wondering: we are in Chernarus, a state of the former ost bloc, why the heck are there so many US weapons? We need more russian weapons in the game!

I looked up the armory of arma, what i counted is:

  • 16 different variations of AKs
  • KSVK Sniper rifle unused in DayZ
  • RPK unused in DayZ
  • 4 different variations of SA58
  • VSS Vintorez for our stealthy snipers
  • PKM & PKP
  • SA 61

Why do we need so many US weapons in DayZ personally it's destroying the feeling for me, there should be only a few US weapons in the game and they can be gathered from the heli crash sites. Almost every of the M4/M16 can be substituted with an eastern rifle. And russian RPGs! I'd love to see them (why? read on).

I would also love to see a bigger pool of weapons i could choose from, not only russian but also from the crash sites.

While we are at this, I would also suggest sunken ships at the coast, which provide western weapons (not underwater but stranded). This would make players not only be at Stary/NW but also at the (eastern only?) coast. New players could walk along the beach to get loot, but also risk to get killed by Raiders.

Another thing i would like to point out is vehicles. It's always vehicles. There are so many dead cars standing around, why can't I repair one of those? Why can't i completely repair them with a toolbox and stuff? e.g. on a normal car

  • gather 4 wheels (You know, cars have 4 wheels)
  • gather 10 engine parts (the engine is completely destroyed and doesn't work anymore, but russian engines are easy to build!)
  • gather 6 windscreens (driving with 60 mph while the wind is blowing your face isn't fun)
  • gather 20 scrap metals to repair the hull (that shit looks like it would explode every second)

some restrictions should have to be made, only cars which look not very highly developed and thus easy to repair.

Although everyone could drive a car you would have to take an insane amount of time and work to get the car to work again.

You would be an easy target for bandits while gathering the stuff and you would have to look ages to get the stuff together.

Industrial areas would be more populated this way, like Berezino (showdown at the docks? hell yeah).

Also rocket launchers would now server a purpose, kill those freaking cars of others.

Thanks for reading and sorry for my english, I'm not native.
