Character reset after server crash or something?

So I was playing with my friend on a certain German server, when of all the sudden the server crashed or something, so tried to find another server.

Next thing we know, our characters were reset and we spawned like new players.

I know this mod is in alpha, but surely there is some sort of backup to a previous state of our characters?

Can anyone help me with this?

The same happened to me ... Sucks .... Don't get attached to your gear ... Its an Alpha ... etc etc

Sometimes if you join another server you get your stuff back. Otherwise be thankful you are now free from material possessions.
