Jamierulez4ever 0 Posted July 24, 2012 I'm not to sure if its me, but I can't seem to use chat, EVER.No matter how much I type or talk, I will be shot/hacked to death.Example:>I am in Electro, at the office>I am unarmed>I meet a guy>Type in DC "I'm friendly and unarmed>He doesnt respond so I plug in my mic and try the same>Still no response>I walk outside and he follows me>I run into his mates>I drop bandage and PK's and stand infront of the wall>All 6 of them open fire on me, while I am simultaneously typing and shouting that I am friendly> I walk away bleeding out of 6 holes, all the while cussing at them for being dicks>I die around the corner from blood lossSo what I want to know is; Am I doing the right thing in chat? This is a single example of something that has happened far to many times on a CH:ON server (assuming it means CHAT=ON)No matter how many times I type/talk into Direct Comms, I never get a response and then people are surprised when I walk out from behind cover and spray me down.I'd even be happier if they lied and said they were friendly, then kill me. - Valkyrie - 89 Posted July 24, 2012 You are doing wrong by not shooting them at sight. 95% of the time you will get shot when encountering other survivors. With knowing that fact, evade survivors and if you spot any but they didn't spot you, go behind cover, ask friendly or not. If you don't get a reply, they will shoot you, so gtfo of there. BlazeN'Chronic 51 Posted July 24, 2012 ... dont ever talk in direct com. lesson learned... you will learn everyone in this game especially once you get better gear.. the parania goes through the roof.. they will kill you just in fear of loosing there stuff. My advice to you, try and find a buddy or two from the forums here you can chat with a bit on skype/mumble, get to know him/her... if there trust worth hop on a dayz server, now the two of you can watch eachothers back ;)
Gogster (DayZ) 626 Posted July 24, 2012 "So what I want to know is; Am I doing the right thing in chat?"It's debatable. Treat every situation carefully and be prepared to leg it or open fire first. Just saying you're friendly in chat is no guarantee that they're not going to waste you.
gunnyrolling 15 Posted July 24, 2012 You are doing it right, people are just assholes. :P
SupaFly1983 52 Posted July 24, 2012 Ch=on refers to crosshairs. And they can hear you, they just want to be dicks. I make it my sole mission in DayZ to hunt these people down (I like bandit killing, not pk'ing). Hopefully I can get more survivors to follow my cause. Dalfin 10 Posted July 24, 2012 You won't find many people to trust, obviously, but eventually you might find that other survivor that shouts the same "FRIENDLY" over his mic. I find if you can join people with vent/ts then they dont kill you. And CH:On means cross hairs on, not chat.
Survivor-Kyle 148 Posted July 24, 2012 Sometimes DC seems to malfunction. I had a guy who I met on a medic run who I was unable to communicate with. Neither he nor I could hear/see communications from the other. Mission was still a success, I just wish I could have told him to keep his own blood bag, because I had plenty.
