Obsession with Military weapons?

I am just wondering why people seem to have an obsession with getting their hands on Military weapons. I can understand a good sniper rifle but thats about it.

The Lee Enfield is such a class weapon for lots of different reasons, and when watching DayZ videos i always hear people say 'He's only got an Enfield'

The reasons i love it:-

1. Its a one shot kill over other players trying to kill you.

2. Can be found in lots of places.

3. Ammo is everywhere for it.

4. The range it has is awesome.

Am i missing some bad points about this gun?? I know its very very loud

Because, your Lee Enfield which no doubt is a good rifle doesn't have a NVG/Thermal scope?

Or silenced or or, you get the idea.

I understand the the night vision scope if you play on night servers, buts lots of people don't and they always want military weapons.

Silenced is good against Zombies, but i found you get to the point in the game were Zombies become a second thought. Not much of a threat.

I agree, they are sexy. Sexy enough to risk your life at the NW airfield barracks though? I know you can get them at other places.

I've been killed a few times at NWAF but thats the risk yer take, I have however only been killed once at a Heli site or deerstand!

Lee is awesome for long-range firefights and it totally wins against AK* at 300+ meters, but it's pretty useless in CQC due to it's awful rate of fire.

I still stick to it while raiding cities for food and e.t.c.

Not a "modern" military weapon but still one of the best gun's around and most reliable in real life**

Only downside I find on DayZ is it's so freaking loud! zombies find you from miles off! lol

But a solid all round weapon.

They need to bring in thos noisan* seeing as we are in Russia lol
