How to request a specific server locational Hive wipe?

Recommended Posts

So this morning I was scouting on my server that I co-admin with our clan leader and ran across what can only be described as a very large player built military encampment.

After spending about 20 minutes scoping it from different angles with my L85 to ensure it was empty, I made my way to it and it was literally over 150 meters of sand bags, tank traps and wire fencing....the amount of defensive emplacements were unbelievable.

As I entered the camp I noticed they had several of our servers vehicles but what caught my eye were the hundred or so tents all set up in an organized manner.

Our server has been up for a week, even if a group of people had been working 24 hours a day for the entire week, just the amount of sand bags and tents are unbelievable all by themselves.

I then started checking the tents, finding tents with inordinate amounts of the same type of gun and ridiculous amounts of ammunition for them. Each tent I found in the section that seemed to be dedicated to weapons had a completely legal gun that should be in the game, but the total amount of them was absolutely impossible.

There is no way all this stuff was found on my server in a week. And we have two clans that play on our server and this camp belongs to neither of those clans (we share a team speak for DayZ).

Obviously what I found is a pretty indepth duping camp, cause theres just no way, even carting this stuff from another server to my clan's server, that anyone could have this much stuff stockpiled legitimately.

So after going through several tents I grabbed an M203 and several HE rounds from their stock, got outside the camp and flattened the place. Hopefully to send a message that I don't want that crap on my server....but it would be nicer if I could specify the coordinates and have that area cleared entirely from my server at the Hive level. Is there any way to do this? Or should we just not really give a crap since this is alpha?

Trashing it is no good it will just come back after a server reset.

The only way to clear it is to Empty the tent, SAVE it, then reboot the server.

The tent will now start Empty.

Do that for all the tents.

You can probably also just Re-start the mission which I think starts the map from scratch.

I don't know the CLI command for this and the latest battleye script stops you doing it from the in game console :(

Restarting the mission doesn't start it from scratch, as everything is saved on the HIVE and it just reloads it.

Well I'd restart mission but I don't want to wipe legitimate camps out too. I got no problems with people playing legitimately but this was like a freaking DayZ Wal-Mart.

I thought flattening tents with explosives destroyed the tent contents?

It throws the contents of the tents on the ground.

If my understanding is right Tents and such like are server side hence why you manually save them and they are server specific.

Vehicles also run locally and have the same save/dupe problems but somehow thier spawning at all on the server is hive managed....

Yes it destroys the contents...which are regenerated on server restart along with the tents =p

Basically if you scroll wheel over a tent, that SAVE OLD TENT option means basically save it's current state to the server.

On server reset it reverts back to last save.

If you destroy it you can't save it...

You have to dump all the contents out then save it to screw them over...but I assume they have copies on them and can start all over again but it will put them back a bit.

I mean even Legit camps will dupe even if you don't want them to, Store and save an item, then as soon as you retrieve it, bang...duped on reset... that's the problem.

And not saving isn't an option then you loose your stuff on server reset instead....

You CAN take items out then SAVE to update the tent but lets face it, who remembers to do that EVERY SINGLE Time =/

Of course some people cross the line with it like this but at the end of the day on my server I CBA with dealing with them when even legit camps will do it as a feature.

Best just wait for them to fix the bug...THEN either trash the worst examples or just be happy that over time the stock piles will vanish.

Their saved on the HIVE which is why on some restarts it doesn't load tents or cars. You don't see your tents on other servers because it's saved to the servers instance ID

My experience is different, when I ran over some tents with a car (by accident) all the contents dissapeared on a server reboot. The tents were still there but everything in it was lost.

Bleh that would take me hours to do, if not more and I've hardly got time to be sitting in the middle of someones heavily entrenched camp slowly emptying out tents and doing my best to shoot anyone that logs in near me til I get it all done.

I'd hardly run out of ammo of course, but the minute I had to drop someone logging in there, I'm sure whoever they're working with would be hit the server in force to kill me off cause I'm in their camp trying to get rid of their dupe shit.

Course then I could just ban them with BERcon but then I'd have to deal with proving all their shit was duped.....its a headache any way you slice it. But I can't deal with the idea of this much milgrade gear just duped out on my server...its insane.

Yeah we have a few camps like that which aren't nearly as bad but still verging on getting silly (3 NVG, most of the top end weapons + 30 mags or so for each, a dozen Coyote packs and all the tools , meds and food you could want) but they pop up so often and are so easily put back into operation it's not worth our time to keep stamping them out.

Meh all I know is tents and Vehicles are Buggy and don't seem to operate the same way consistently XD

Destroyed tents on our server come back in all their glory on reboot but can be saved empty =p

Somtimes they don't come back on a restart at first, but will after a 2nd or third =p

Not hard to prove really, from what you describe its obvious. Also, it's not like it's a priority for anyone to catch admins banning without enough proof. I mean, like 20% of the servers out there are locked/passworded or kick anyone joining. Not to mention the admins that ban people that kill them. If I catch anyone on my server hacking or abusing exploits excesively they can expect the banhammer. Wouldn't think twice about it.

Yeah but anyone with a tool box can pull up the tank traps.

And I can't stand watch over their camp for eternity and shoot everyone that shows up to keep them from taking down the tank traps.

I'm hoping a flattened camp will deter them and make them look for a new server.

If anything they'll know their location has been discovered.

Aye but anyone that prolific and organised will also have tents duped and probably extra stashes, they'll probably just wait for reboot or move to a 2nd stash :(

Transfering from one server to another takes minutes.

Pickup tents and "seed" gear

Log out at camp and into new server at camp location

Setup tents with seed gear, rinse/repeat

A few reboots later and you have a full dupe camp again =/

take the tank traps, and place them infront and behind the tents preventing them from accessing them at all.

You think whoever set that camp up doesn't have a toolbox to take down the traps?
