Time length for Character removal from server?

How long does it take for your character to be removed physically from a server when you exit the game?

There are situations where too many zombies may be closing in on you or you spot bandit players and want to avoid the situation all together so you log out.

How long does it take from the time you push Abort and you disconnect for you to physically be removed from the game world?

You would assume it is instant however, it may take 5 or more seconds for you to physically be removed. More than enough time for a zombie to chomp your arm or a bandit to shoot you before you are gone.
