Publik 404 Posted May 22, 2012 Found out today that to fill a water bottle at a pump you need to go into your pack to get the option. I know Rocket has stated somewhere that the scroll is for everything outside of your pack, so using the pump/filling gas/whatever should still be on the wheel. That being said, I really liked the functionality of the wheel. If I needed to do something like eat or drink, the option was right there. Sure, I had no control over what I ate or drank, but it was quick and I didn't have to mess with my inventory. It'd be cool if you brought back the wheel options alongside the new inventory controls. No need to remove features.
Renegade0260 3 Posted May 22, 2012 I dont' see the point in removing a feature that's perfectly workable, why not have both the wheel option and also allow using things directly from your Gear dialog?
wallace71 3 Posted May 22, 2012 their stated reason is that it improved performance. I'm all for making things smoother, although I still don't quite understand how this system does that. I have yet to play 1.5.8.2 but am looking forward to it.
spacingtonflioniv 2 Posted May 22, 2012 Wish I had read this before I crawled away from that pump thinking it was broken. Haha.Unless this somehow improves performance, I'd like to see scroll options returned at least to the water pumps/water sources. You still use it to inspect gear/loot, so I don't think it would be inconsistent.
dgordonid@yahoo.com 1 Posted May 22, 2012 Does everything have to be about performance?I rather enjoyed the ease of use that comes from the mousewheel. If I wanted a cumbersome annoying experience I would visit best buy.
BurstFire (DayZ) 1 Posted May 22, 2012 Anyone able to explain to me how performance was lost using the scroll option, and where? Was it when you were actually scrolling? I never experienced loss, ever, so I have no idea why we don't have both either. Quick and functional.Edit: Checked a previous thread I asked this question in, here's the answer. Either way I'm wondering whether I'll notice the difference, as performance wasn't much of an issue. Still have to say, easy and functional, wasn't unnecessarily clunky. From what he said previously' date=' it was a constant performance loss, as the context menu checks things every second, so with the previous system, it was checking if any/all actions were possible every second. Meanwhile, now it only checks things when you go to use them in the gear screen, which causes the performance increase.[/quote']
grio 0 Posted May 22, 2012 The scroll option would be easier for the user yes but behind it. It was probably drawing a fair amount of resources from the server that would add up between 50 users. It could have been also adding a leak. Tbh its not a big deal it being removed.
BurstFire (DayZ) 1 Posted May 22, 2012 Too bad some sort of hotkey can't be assigned for these items.
