New player in need of help

Recommended Posts

Hello, I just started playing and I can't figure out how to melee. Maybe there isn't a melee button, but i start with no weapon and no way to defend against anything.

From what I was reading, you should start with a pistol and ammo? Plus, do you normally have to wait 10-25 mins for the loading screen??

What you read must have been old - you no longer start with weapons. Find a barn, they usually have hatchets and crappy guns that spawn frequently.

And yes, the loading is eternal.

Most of the loading problems have been fixed, and you should get in any server with a relatively nice ping pretty quickly. When you find a melee weapon (hatchet or crowbar), right click on it in your toolbelt to move it to your main weapon slot.

When you get a melee weapon, press the "R" key to "Reload" it. Seriously. You need to to use it. (Not sure why lol).

Check the thread "Index of Helpful Threads" you can find about any information you need about DayZ. Good luck out there. The time it takes to enter a server depends on server load and location of it. Try finding one close very you live.
