tnbdare 0 Posted July 24, 2012 Here's an idea what if when you start popping zombies you begin a counter to a zombie wave system, and if you destroy the zombie waves and clear the town of zombies you'll be clear for 20 mins or so of all zombies.
Caviano 287 Posted July 24, 2012 Thatd be quite nice.
zython (DayZ) 196 Posted July 24, 2012 Or, set zombies on a "spawn cycle" where every 15 minutes or so zombies will spawn, so if you manage to kill enough you can create a safe zone for a short period of time.
ryan__mc__@hotmail.co.uk 131 Posted July 24, 2012 Nah should be more like ...all zombies in the town are killed and they shouldnt spawn back for about 5 mins ..thats the realisitc way it would happen.
Womb Raider 92 Posted July 24, 2012 (edited) No, Day Z is never going to have anything that remotely resembles a zombie wave game mechanic. That is a terrible idea. Edited July 24, 2012 by Womb Raider
Dawn (DayZ) 27 Posted July 24, 2012 I prefer Zythons idea, It wouldnt be too hard making a safe zone, and it would be more realistic. ( this is my 100th post, wohoo! )
CarloNord 29 Posted July 24, 2012 I would like a way to clear towns, but for like base/fort building, so I can build my noob oasis in electro. (have loot spawning minimized or turned off of course)
Kykle 1 Posted July 27, 2012 Finally found this type of suggestion. A friend and I talked about it a bunch. The ARMA 2 mission editor already contains the ability to do most of the work for this kind of alteration. Problem is that because of the shear amount of buildings in Chernarus, this could be quite taxing on a server. But this is our version of this idea. Individual or small groups of buildings outside of towns and cities could be affected directly as where in a city it should work by sections. When near a building the already set number of infected spawn, when that amount is exterminated while a player is within the vicinity of the building, it becomes lets call it "player controlled". (Not to be confused with "owned") No more infected will spawn until the player/s leave the vicinity. Also to protect DayZ, no visual or audio indications should be given. Naturally the player is required to decide if it is safe. So in a city it would be groups of buildings. Large groups, to the point that it is pointless to try unless you have a large team capable of protecting the cleansed district. We like this idea because it makes it more possible to manually create a "Safe Zone" or whatever you want to call it. Without the the problem of Infected spawning inside a secured perimeter. Server control can do this, I believe that is how locations such as Freetown and GMSRadio are possible. But smaller scale and natural on the fly secured locations would be nice.
