Stuck in "wilderness"

Hey guys I have been playing for week updated to the new patch today 5/22/2012. I was playing fine for 5ish hours and then I changed servers because I was getting lag. On the new server I spawned in "wilderness" barren area with no trees nothing, some dead player bodies. Every so often I would see people spawn briefly in front of me and then disappear. I have tried to disconnect and reconnect and I am still stuck in this area no matter what server I go too. What should I do?

I also noticed I was able to interact with the other people I saw in this area till they spawned out

im the same, any solution apart from suicide? I am moving SE to try and walk out of the wilderness

I did try and run to the reality from this, but I ended up killing myself and restarted in Chernogorsk. So I guess one of these two are the ones to go for if you get stuck in the wilderness :)

move directly east if you can, you can walk out and end up in the SW area of the map

I ended up respawning, lost some good gear but it fixed the problem.

Nothing wrong with a fresh start right?
