Rocket the game is too awesome...

Recommended Posts

This game is getting incredibly popular which causes many problems. I would just like to say ...Dont listen to the player base...too many carebears are trying it out and leaving feedback when they havent even tried the game really.

They will complain about everything and turn the mod into every other game/mod out there. Sandboxes should be tough and real gamers will like the game for being tough. If its not tough people will lose interest.

Basically im just saying people dont know what they like or just like whining in general so just follow your artistic instinct and this game will keep getting more awesome.

thanks

Lol don't listen to the playerbase?

Without players, this mod would of never of worked.

With mods comes pros n cons, of course he doesn't listen to everything, but he has to listen to some of it, otherwise he'd be ignoring his mods fans and going nowhere.

Just because people post more about what they don't like doesn't mean they hate it all, alot of people love the new stuff and some don't, but you just CANNOT ignore playerbase, it would be stupid!

From my experience with MMO's.. albeit this is not an MMO but almost. Listening to the player base when a game becomes suddenly popular or money becomes involved can destroy the spirit of a game.

What you forget though is the people that post here like us.. are fans of this game and we have a readable opinion, but we are minorities, there are alot of people out there playing, who indeed don't care at all and will play this game no matter what.

With any game you see people posting about change and what they hate, but you never see many posts about the good things.

Most people who come to forums are all decent people, the problems just seem more condensed on a forum thats all.

Just saying don't let the whining carebears who play 1 hour and whine about stuff they cant do and ruin the survival atmosphere of the game. I was just reading the old posts about people whining about the number of zombies but i see now they are going to change them back to less zombies. Just saying dont listen to the whiners. If they cant survive then they are zombies in real life and in the game. They have to learn to adapt.

Well the large number of zombies that came with 1.5.7 was unintended. And from what I've read, he didn't lower the numbers, just slowed the spawn rate a bit. Before 1.5.7 a small town up north would have somewhere between 10-15 zombies. After 1.5.7 the same town would have 30 zombies, making them more of a threat, and making the game more difficult and still fun at the same time. But to clear that town of 30 only to have 30 more spawn before you can loot the first house was a little much. And that is what I think got "fixed" with this new patch.

No I disagree from what I've seen so far towns appear to have much less zombies then before. I really enjoyed the 1.5.7 numbers I thought they were absolutely PERFECT. It was just re-spawn times that needed tweaking.

Hopefully Rocket can chime in here...

I thought pre 1.5.7 was excellent. My current dude has been alive for 10+ hours, still has a survivor skin, but hes a 1.5.6 carebear basically. This mod is incredible, but 1.5.7 made it not worth the ammo to raid anything that isn't 1-2 enter-able buildings outside of towns. I have 5 canteens and about 10 cans of whatever, but only a magazine left in my akm and my automatic sidearm (forget the name, it seems to be a micro-uzi). So I live off of my supplies and getting people to trust me long enough for my buddy with his cz to put a bullet in their head.

It works for us, we survive, but I would like to be able to loot a town for its beans instead of killing newbies.

Just be careful that you aren't joining the anti-care bear bandwagon. I'm all for the game being tough, but bullshit is going to take a while to iron out.

EDIT: On the airfield, the zombie respawns spawns are a pure rage inducing bullshit storm. Probably a prank, but annoying nonetheless.

Give us ACE, Rocket.

Let us "weigh" how much gear we can possibly take and how far we can outrun zombies.

Yes, we will all die, and this is the point. You only seek to live because you don't know you are already dead.

Some changes I disagree with, but I still wanna make out with Rocket.

Loving the mod. Sure, some stuff needs to be fixed, but I trust where Rocket is going with it.

i kinda liked the large amounts of zombies, made going into a town really tough. i found me and my friend would often sneak into town using a crossbow to kill only what we needed to kill. we would belly crawl around dozens of zombies just to make it into a supermarket looting the place in silence.

of course we also don't want to announce to the whole area that we are at a village getting ready to loot it. helps to keep bandits from knowing where you are

that expierience adds a level of fun, intensity, and suspense. as opposed to being able to cost effectivly just shoot every zombie in the village first

making their numbers so you could just shoot everything before going in would kinda kill the fun of looting a town.

Sandboxes should be tough and real gamers will like the game for being tough. If its not tough people will lose interest.

...and if people feel it's too tough they will not bother playing at all. Sandboxes shouldn't 'be tough' just for the sake of it or because you feel they should be; they should offer a challenge' date=' with most level of players able to sense a reasonable expectation of success from the outset.

Basically im just saying people dont know what they like or just like whining in general so just follow your artistic instinct and this game will keep getting more awesome.

Yeah, yeah, but what you're really saying is 'ima hardcorez mad skillz playa, innit and I know what ppl like' - okay, we get that. How about you stop and consider that perhaps the 'whining' you seem to hear might actually be legitimate criticism? I wonder what exclusive qualifications you posses for 'knowing what people like' in a mod like DayZ..?

You can turn DayZ into an exclusive fight club for you and your no doubt equally 'skilled' friends, or Rocket can keep an eye on developing this mod for a much wider demographic, including people who don't consider themselves 'hardcore' but love the very concept behind DayZ and would like to participate meaningfully at their own particular level.
