Pitching a tent

How do I set about this?

Seriously.

All the places I try......says must be flat and away from objects.........

Seriously how do I set a tent down?

You set it on a flat area away from objects/entities. ;_;

Which is weird because I set mine accidently on a hill yesterday. I didn't even want it out, but you know? What can you do? Just pick it up and take it away.

Don't set your tent down till the next update. They're bugged.

But anyway, go to the general location you want to place it and open your inventory, keep on right clicking and selecting place tent and at the same time move a bit left/right/up/down till it works.

Your best bet is to hit some of ASDW -keys along when pitching tent. So you move a little bit whole time and click pitch tent-option at the same time and sometimes you get lucky and you start pitching a tent :)

it's a pain in the rear...what i do is go crouch, hit g to open up gear and move around slowly right clicking on the tent to place it on the groud, process can be anywhere between 15 seconds - 5 mins, it's weird but i'll happen.

You CAN set the tent. Try to get a reasonably flat area, then right click on the tent and deploy. It wont work. Back up a step or two and repeat the process. Do it until it finally deploys. It WILL eventually deploy if you keep attempting while you take a step backwards.

Yup, it's annoying, but it *will* work.

You just have to keep trying until it works.

i first create a fireplace where i want to place my tent. that seems to "level" the ground. then i pitch the tent on top of the fire place.

seems to work fine.
