[Resolved] Hacker: US 105 (Hosted by 50calgaming)

Recommended Posts

I searched the forums but didn't see any topics pertaining to this particular server, so there seem to be no records of previous abuse.

My clanmates were playing on US 105 together (3 of us). We've been playing on 105 frequently over the past 4 or 5 days, as they have great uptime, low latency, etc.

The Scenario:

At approx. 1:30PM CST (GMT-6) on today, 23 July 2012, we were all 'teleported' to what looked like the Rog Por area. I had been North of Mogilevka, headed towards Stary Sobor - so I was nowhere near Rog Por. All of a sudden I find myself surrounded by a bunch of other players in Rog Por, and they're all shooting each other. Smoke everywhere, explosions going on, etc.

People on here seem really defensive - so removed the rest. Sorry - didn't know admins have no rights on the server. Sorry - didn't know that BattleEye wasn't worth shit. SORRY - for trying to report a problem on a server that could affect other people because this server is connected to a persistent, master server. SORRY.

@50calgaming: If you see this, would be great if you could check your logs and get rid of the wrong-doers, thanks!

I'm assuming it's the admins causing the issue, since they own the server. If it's not them who teleported me/us, it's still their fault/problem.

Yeah!

Just like how it's the rape victims' fault for dressing like a slut!

This is the work of a hacker not an admin necessarily. You should try and contact the admin of US 105, tell him what happened and to check the logs.

They maintain their server - it's their responsibility to ensure it maintains the standards established by DayZ Staff. Hence part of the purpose behind having a forum dedicated to cheats and admin abuse. From a legal perspective, since you cited a rape victim, people are held accountable for negligence, as well. My point in the statement you quoted me was that, while it may not have been the 50cal members doing the teleporting, it's still their responsibility to ensure things like that don't happen.

@Inspector54: Thought it might be. I visited the website mentioned on the server, but it's just a raw vBulletin forum spammed by bots. I haven't seen any human posts on it. It's not even branded by 50cal. Google and YT search yielded no results, either. So, figured this was the next best place to post.

Server owners have no more power over hackers than you do. They can go look at the logs later and ban the guy, but the damage is already done by then.

So, say what you will about "responsibility." You're blaming the victim here.

Really and how do we admins do that when the idiots are using a Battleye bypass so whatever they do isn't even in the logs now? I can't even ban them after they do it as I can't find a log entry, there's no possible way to do it before they hack as that's batteleyes job and its full of holes.

Try running a server for a week before spewing crap from your soup coolers.....

You are funny.

No one likes hackers, but you are putting the blame on the ones that makes this game available for you. How many server do you think the dev team could host and fund? 10? 100? That adds up to about 4000 players. Where should the rest +800000 players go? Really, just read a little before posting shit like this. You are blaming 100% innocent people of shit and on top of that, they are paying the bills so that you can play.

Hey, sorry - I've run servers in the past, though none for DayZ. I was unaware admins were so limited for DayZ. But that doesn't change the fact that, admin or hacker or whoever, the event did occur. So ... reported it. Maybe the admins for 50cal can do something about it via logs, maybe not.

I didn't mean any offense by my posts, I saw an issue and knew I had no power to fix it (short of screens/video, which wasn't an option at the time) - so reported it in the hope someone with more authority could.

Obviously some people like hackers - else there wouldn't be so many. I'm aware most of the hosting is voluntary and not by the DayZ Staff; I was considering hosting one as of a few days ago (waiting to see how many clanmates are interested before I make a decision). I've spent a decent amount of time reading loads of information about the game, policies, servers, etc - but being that I've only been in this community for a week or less (just look at my joindate, your turn to read a little), there's obviously going to be some places where I don't know the whole situation. Obviously the rights/abilities of admins concerning hackers was one of those areas. Okay, so I've learned - and I'll adjust. But there's no need to be rude and go biting my head off. If you dislike hackers as much as I do, you'd bite my head off if I *didn't* do everything I could and report the hacker, and now you're biting my head off for actually doing so.

Chill.

Appreciate the report of hackers....

Underwhelmed by the pointing of fingers at the Admins who are hand tied right now.

Stick to the facts, leave conjecture out of the reports.....Helps alot

Will do in future reports (hopefully few). I wouldn't have made such conjectures if I had realized admins' were so restricted on what could be done.

I apologise for being rude. You seem like a stand up guy. Its just that it is starting to feel as if this mod is being slowly ruined by hackers AND - sorry to say - the players them selves. There are tons of false accusations against admins and other players every day. I think admin abuse is very bad just as hacking. But there is no point in reporting anything without solid proof. Theres just way too much going on all the time as this mod have blown out of proportion. If one provides proof, im confident the devs will take action as needed.

Right, and I can understand that. I know that, especially with a mod growing as quickly as DayZ, forums do tend to get bloated with "OMG hax" messages every time someone does too well. I get that. I suppose I was hoping that such an issue was easier to resolve. If all admins can do is look at logs - that seems like a poor system by design. If the admins find proof, can they actually remove the troublesome player themselves, or does it go through a 'ticket process' of sorts where the admins report it and DayZ or BE staff handle it manually?

On mine, I'll look at the logs and ban the idiots, the ones that still try ammo.sqf, crayte.sqf, etc... Also take inputs from the player base, view the logs and if it pans out, ban them.

Sometimes there's some stupid enough to keep respawning in the church I am standing in , a good 15 min run from the coast, and getting killed 4 or five times in 10 minutes, they get banned as well.

Devs I guess review the reports sent in as well. Tonic updates the DayZ ban list sometimes, and we can download that master list.

BE catches some, but doen't ban immediately. Waits some period of time. Though it can be frustrating, its actually a pretty good plan as it keeps the scripters from knowing what script they ran that caused it. Ends up catching more idiots I guess.

Overall its a slow, kludgy process. Logs are huge and Devs are slow as they seem to be focused elsewhere...

Yeah, sounds ... tiresome :/ Well the 'better' hackers then, the ones not getting caught, I'm assuming they're using external scripts/programs. Is there a way to detect those through the logs, or can they only see manual entries (e.g. a player manually typing /bla bla)? Obviously BattleEye isn't flagging anything, but is there no other way to defend a server? I was considering hosting a server for DayZ, as I've hosted for several games in the past for my clan, but if there isn't any way to stop these hackers - that kind of eliminates the primary reason we wanted to have 'our own' server ('our own' simply meaning one in which we have the ability to remove troublemakers)..

The BE bypass ones are not detectable right now. Who knows what the future holds, anyones guess.

I had idiots spawning helos on my first server within 30 minutes of it starting up....Sad

We had the same idea, host a server so its a stable, hacker free as can be, zone to play on. We used to play on a couple others that were attacked, or the admin would reset it alot and leave it off for 12+ hours. Figured we could do better.

Now its too much work. Will be dropping one of our two next month and then possibly the other if things don't get better...

Good luck if you decide to host.

False. Most admins never do anything, no checked logs, no bans, nothing. Not doing anything and letting it continue leads me to believe they are in on it all.

Hey there I am the owner of the server. I was on the server when this happened, and one of our clan guys, It was in fact a hacker which I did ban after i shut down the server for a moment.

But I do assure you we were not involved as we were getting mowed down as a bunch of people were screaming. But we did go in the logs and ban the teleporter.

He is banned on both our servers Us 100 and Us 105. However this is one hacker out of 100 or so we have banned in the past week.
