How to switch between einfield and makarov?

Alright so I had both of the weapons and mags for both of the weapons, I thought F was to switch between the two weapons. I constinuously spammed it and it never worked, the only way I could possibly change my weaposn was to drop both of them on the ground and the first one I picked up was the one equipped. I died because I agrod a lot of zombies and I wasnt able to switch weapons to shoot them off because one ran out of ammo. Please help.
