Strogg 23 Posted July 23, 2012 (edited) I've played my first few sessions, and here is what I've observed. It takes too long to get stuff, and more often than not someone will kill you and take it, or just kill you anyway. I just got a bunch of stuff after hours of fruitless playing, then some guy runs up through the zombie infested fields being chased by zombies, and shoots me in the back while I'm on the ground. Something tells me he'll d/c then return after a minute or two and loot my corpse.I understand how people say its 'realistic' to not inhibit wonton slaughter, but there is realism and then there are games. They don't necessarily mesh well together.WHAT IS FUN: Shooting zombies, finding supplies, etc.NOT FUN: Being shot by everyone in sight on the off-chance you have supplies.I know you guys want to maintain the difficulty, but how about..1. Make there be enough supplies for everyone. Wait, wait! There is more..2. Add more zombies, make them wander inbetween towns and in the wilds, and generally make it more difficult to avoid them.I might get flamed for pointing this out, but the game is broken if the greatest danger is other players rather than the actual zombies. Just sayin'. Edited July 23, 2012 by Strogg
IamtheYeti 0 Posted July 23, 2012 I think spreading out the zombies would be a nice touch so that you have to always be prepared for the unexpected. The more I play the game, the less PvP actually becomes a factor for me. In 2 days of playing, I've come across 2 people....both in cherno. One, we saw each other, looked at each other and just bolted in opposite directions. The other, I had just spawned by cherno, and was unarmed and didnt have anything. The guy shot me in the face and then got swarmed by zombies so it was kinda funny to me. Sinoby 39 Posted July 23, 2012 There is enough supplies, you have to know, where to look for them. It takes some time to understand though. This mod is not too friendly for newcomers. Zombies between towns might be fun, if the would be random spawns.
sirmike 2 Posted July 23, 2012 Each of everyone of us has dealt the same situation you had and each time it becomes more fun just for the sake of "staying alive" This is reason enough to look trough the flaws.
thehumandove 344 Posted July 23, 2012 I'd say keep playing. Eventually these suggestions become moot
species5021 28 Posted July 23, 2012 Indeed, just keep going. There are plenty of supplies out there. Dont take the easy way and go into cherno or elektro. People pretty much go there to kill and die. When you spawn, head north. Use this map http://dayzmap.info/, when you spawn at kamenka go north and follow the deerstands in the fields, and when you reach the upper one go east to the ones at bor. Follow the woods untill youve checked both of those and head north to the one at the top of the hill. When thats checked look to the little village down the hill, the black building to the left at the edge of the road is enterable and can have some good stuff. When youve visited that go north untill you cross the hill, the town there is selenogorsk and it has a supermarket you can check. The above is pretty much my earliest start out route, never failed me. Hope any of you new players has a use for it :)
Daddy'o (DayZ) 146 Posted July 23, 2012 It takes too long to get stuffIt doesn't if you shoot other people in the back.I understand how people say its 'realistic' to not inhibit wonton slaughter, but there is realism and then there are games. They don't necessarily mesh well together.Rocket, the creator of this mod calls this the Anti-game. It's a simulation and a social experiment, that is unfair and cruel, his words.WHAT IS FUN: Shooting zombies, finding supplies, etc.NOT FUN: Being shot by everyone in sight on the off-chance you have supplies. After you've gotten used to the DayZ world, in about 2 weeks, it will turn around like this:WHAT IS FUN: Shooting players in the back.NOT FUN: Shooting zombies, finding supplies, etcI know you guys want to maintain the difficulty, but how about..1. Make there be enough supplies for everyone. Wait, wait! There is more..2. Add more zombies, make them wander inbetween towns and in the wilds, and generally make it more difficult to avoid them.Rocket has stated that the servers are currently at he bare limit of how many zombies can be supported, at around 800-1000 zombies. Having more of them will cause severe issues with hive functions due to lag. There are plenty supplies already, you're just looking for them in a manner that is too careless and gets you killed. Also you're playing solo where you're supposed to have mates covering you. There is strength in numbers, both in real life and in DayZ.I might get flamed for pointing this out, but the game is broken if the greatest danger is other players rather than the actual zombies. Just sayin'.It's the entire point of the mod as a social experiment. Zombies aren't very social :) I don't mean this at all in a rude manner, but have you tried playing left 4 dead or dead island? Both are great zombie games where the fun is in shooting zombies and not other players :)
