Zombi meat to travel silently

Hello,

It would be really great to create the "zombi meat" object. That object could be loot on dead zombies.

It could not be cooked but players could use it to put some zombi meat on their clothes. It would change the player skin to looks more like zombies (by displaying the horrible zombi meat on their body) and they could try to go throught an horde of zombies without killing them. Zombies could have a small chance to detect the fake if the player walk, and a higher chance if the player run, with a duration of 1 or 2 minutes.

This addition would give to players a way to move silently into area of interests (infected area). We all know that actually, most people do alt+f4 to travel cities silently, but I believe it will be fixed soon (and thats really great). After that, you will only have your guns to create a way in a horde of zombies. That addition would allow players to stay furtive in dangerous area, to make pvp more subtle and to create really fun embush ;)

Ripped right out of "The Walking Dead". Credit where credit is due. Why would you want to eat zombie meat? Not sure about the other part of your idea...

Infected not zombies....

It says zombies ALL over in the game. They are zombies. Period.

TWD did this, as pretty much everyone has said before.

One thing though... if infected handle like in the walking dead (they tend to form herds), being able to disguise yourself and move among them might actually allow you to start a "snowball" effect which could end in catastrophic (if totally fun) ways.

Interesting idea to play with, but overall, there are more pressing matters at hand.

Doesn't matter what posters say or what you agree with or even think, listen to what the devs say and to what they draw inspiration from or are trying to emulate.

They are living breathing infected people, think 28 days later or a modified rabies virus.

They see, hear, and move at least as well as you do if not better.

This is an authentic look at a "zombie" scenario free of magic like dead people rising from the grave.

I'm not going to argue anymore as I'm right and thats the end of the story, look up Rocket's posts/interviews instead of disagreeing with me.

As for Op's Idea, I think more thought would need to go into the infected and how they actually detect non infected, I'm not sure your suggestion would really fit into the narrative currently.

Perhaps simplify it to "zombie clothes" that you wear to trick other players, rather than other zombies.

Also, on topic, I would agree normally, but I just thought for a second, you wanna get past some zombies? Sneak, kill, or get some friends to shoot them with you.

Actually, since their sight is degraded, all you'd need to do is really is spray yourself with the infected scent? Maybe it could be an EXTREMELY rare find on crashed helicopters. It would read; "Virus/Parasite/Infected Sample" The idea could be that the military managed to get a sample and were flying it out and crashed for whatever reason.

I say to make the infected less aware of players since Rocket said there will be a patch on ALT+F4 soon also the zombies shouldn't be as fast as players at least after some time rinning away from them

I like the fact that you refer to them as both infected and zombies in the same sentence.

What rocket says,

So the infected:

- Cannot feel pain

- Lacks all reasoning other than basal instinct

- Has no human emotions

- Has only the desire to attack

I can understand the folks who want the zombies slowed down for gameplay reasons.

But what completely dumbfounds me, is why do people steadfastly believe that in "real life" they would be able to outrun a person in such a state?

I'm genuinely curious, as such a notion seems absurd to me. Removing alot of the human thoughts from the brain, such as fear, pain, self preservation - would make someone extremely hard to get away from.

News to me that the infection somehow ruins their sight, I hope this isn't the case, they should be able to see you if you can see them. The environment needs to be as punishing as possible IMO as this will provide a reason for people to seek out and befriend other people.

Ehh... well, its just an infection. If you don't cook the meat thoroughly enough to kill it, then you would technically just be infecting yourself. Otherwise there is no reason why the meat would effect your appearance.

They are infected. They are zombies. They are zombies and they are infected. There is no single definition of a zombie, so these can easily be both. The fact that the debug monitor tells you how many 'zombies' you've killed, and how many 'zombies' are active, and the DayZ homepage tells us that 145,387,419 'zombies' have been killed in total. And the site's About page declares that DayZ has 'Realistic "Zombies" with custom animations'. The game clearly has 'zombies'. Whether you want to call them that is up to you, I guess. The problem is when you start trying to 'correct' other people, contrary to the countless precedents for calling them zombies established by the mod's own creators (who must, ultimately, be the authority on this!).

As for the OP, this has been suggested numerous times already. Use the search before starting a thread.

I don't care if they are zombies or infected. I'm focusing on gameplay.

What I see today is that the only way to travel a dangerous zone is to make a lot of noise (by shooting) or to cheat (with alt+f4).

The idea is to create a new way to go silently throught a horde of infected.

- For the people that say (it would be always used). Do not forget that I mention the fact to have a small chance to be detected when you walk, and a higher chance to be detected when you run. So that's not a 100% chance of success. And if you are detected in the middle of the horde, it could be really bad for you.

- I also want to add that you have to kill some infected to be able to pick some of their meat, so you have to shoot sometimes.

To avoid people using that technic too much, we could add a drop rate to the zombi meat. Why not 15% chance to drop it.

About the skin, I got a new idea. The player putting some zombi meat on him could have the zombi skin, so, to perfectly looks like a zombi, the player should remove his gun from his hand. If not, he will have the zombi skin, but with the gun in the hand, which would not fake other player.

So you should decide if you want to perfectly fake the other, at the price of high vulnerability, or just fake zombies and keep you guns... That could be fun.

Edit : Some people could say that you can travel silently in infected zone by using silent guns. But, really, they are too much rare. Actually, lot of people have them just because they use and abuse of exploit (rush airfield by doing alt+f4 and then, server hoping until being full stuff).. When these 2 things will be fixed, I think that most people will be happy when they will have an hatched with a lee enfield and people with silent gun will be cound on the finger of the hand.

That was rather stupid of me...

My focus was more on the preception of what they are, naming is naming but I think from what Dev's have said and how they act it is clear that the infected/zombies are not the brainless rotting corpses people usually think of when they think of zombies.
