NATO weapons at HELO sites and additional weapons.

Firstly, I know inserting additional weaponry is probably the least of Rocket's concerns at the moment, but I love my weapons and I'm always interested in having more toys to play with in any game. Anyway, it's a pretty straight-forward solution to the issue of having extremely rare NATO firearms in Chernarus as the helicopters have come from the outside. Eastern Bloc weapons could spawn exclusively at military installations which would enhance the sense of realism too.

Oh and let me address the large anti-content crowd who seem to want a decrease in weapon variety: instead of refusing to advocate adding new content and pissing off people like me in the process, consider this: why not simply decrease the spawn rates of military-grade weapons if new ones were added? The spawn rate of the likes of the M24, M240 at military installations at the moment is 0.11%, so if 10 new weapons of relative rarity were added the spawn rate could be decreased to 0.01%.

Hopefully these two solutions would solve the dubiously ubiquitous nature of NATO weapons as well as avoiding making military weapons unrealistically common if more were added.

Please don't act like a contrarian ass-hole or try to make an argument where there isn't one, I'm just trying to make a constructive suggestion.

I know some of you are barely literate and could care less about reading 8 whole sentences, so here's a nice list of potential weapons that could be added :):

Eastern Bloc (barracks, firehouses, hangars and ATC towers):

PPSH (residential/barn)

Mosin-Nagant (residential/barn)

NATO (helicopter crash sites)

Steyr AUG

G36 and variants

Yes I'm aware many of these weapons would have to be added from scratch or via mods, but it's all wishful thinking right now, isn't it? I also can't stress enough that I know this sort of content is the last sort on the developer's mind right now.

Sorry pal, I must disagree with you, I think in a apocalyptc world, especially in Chernarous, military weapons SHOULD be really rare to find, everyone these days can find a M4A1 or AKM/AK74 in 10 min of playing

Im supporting the idea of adding more civilian firearms and make these more common

I agree with MinxinG, military weapons should be more difficult to get hold of.

Although AK weapons are common place in the former Soviet block.

I agree with you, having a few more weapons in would be nice for a change, I personally despise the AK series (at least in ArmA2) and usually go for an L85 or G36 when I can, those should be rare if they get added. I believe drop chance for high quality weapons should be reduced even further. In a Zombie Apocalypse you'd think the most dangerous thing you could encounter is a rifle or shotgun but most shootings my Group had with other survivors ended in a fierce battle with dead on both sides and a HUGE exchange of bullets ranging from 5.56 NATO to .50cal. You have my beans.

Agreed. The first things that would be used are the higher calibre military weapons. Afterwards the rural/civilian weapons would need to be used out of desperation.

One could argue that the civilian weapons would be used first but considering that the military forces are all zombified/infected I would have thought that the supplies had been used and very little would have been left. Plus surely there would only have been only local military weapons instead of the vast armory that they currently have.

Just my thoughts.

I understand that the rarity of military weapons should be a priority, the spawn rate could be decreased off the bat or decreased relative to the amount of new weapons added depending on your opinion.

I understand completely, but there's no limit to how low the spawn chance could go. You could add in 100 weapons and decrease the spawn chance of each by 100 times; same rarity, just more.

I am absolutely a fan of weapon variety.

BUT - i absolutely with the concerns regarding military weaponry. I would far more love to see more melee weapons, and military weaponry decreased. i love my hatchet, and occasionally, theres nothing more fun than going all Gordon Freeman with a crowbar.

I advocate the addition of large axes, bludgeons, makeshift maces and polearms (like street signs or fence poles) and similar.

Increased focus on melee weapons (and reduction of the overabundant firearms ammo) would also make Zeds more of a factor. I am a total noob to the game but i dont fear Zed - the only real danger in this game are bone-crushing doors and trigger-happy players.

of course, thats just my largely unfounded opinion, as i am new to the game. guns are always fun, so i kind of understand the OPs approach. I just think if you are forced into melee combat more often, game would gain. Also shooting accidents among friendlies might decrease :D

On the note of new weapons, i'd much rather see a considerably smaller parade of NATO weapons, almost all of them are US weapons to boot.

New weapons do need to be added but civilian ones, Mosin Nagants, Winchester Hunting rifles in .308winmag, SKS for the low tier military weapon, make AK variants much more rare and half of them should be an AK-100series variant. More shotguns, almost all shotguns in the game are military versions of civilian weapons, most shotguns are civilian, militaries mostly use them in rearguard and clearing actions.

I would imagine AKs and variants are freaking everywhere in Eastern Bloc countries considering they're the most mass produced weapon ever made. What gives you the idea that a 19th century American lever action rifle would be more common than an AKM in a poverty-ridden Warsaw pact country? Makes no sense.

This game needs balance, so if Rocket make military REALLY rare to find, of course, add more weapons, whats the big deal about it?

But, increase the chance of Civilian Weapons.

not an increase just more varity, after all, ther arnt even any 22. cal weapons in the game which is just silly (:P)

What about the ToZ-34 or the Sawn off Shotgun?

How about some more Pistols? TT-33 with 7.62x25mm Tokarev shells :P

or if there would be WW2 Museum in Chernarus where you can loot WW2 Weapons like SVT40 or the DP LMG etc.

But the Moisin Nagant idea is really good, i brought it up on an other thread but hit on locked ears.

Hmm, don't know whether it's a fact but I've heard somewhere that Rocket either isn't interested or is unable to add to the landscape. Maybe further down the line though. Of course in terms of item/weapon drops adding new types of locations would be interesting and open up a bunch of new options.
