Suggestion for splash screens (Loading, You are dead etc)

Recommended Posts

I'm a relatively new player to Day-Z, but what i've been playing so far has been a pretty unique experience that (lets be honest) is long overdue!

I understand it's in alpha, theres a great deal of bugs and these are being worked on so I won't bother mentioning any of these.. The only thing that (really) bugs me are the splash screens in the game. Specifically the "You are dead" screen.

I'm actually a designer myself and was thinking that the "You are dead" screen doesn't really flow with any of the design on the site (which in opinion, looks better) I like the font for the DayZ logo (at the top of this site) and think that something like this would be better..?

At least having it black and white? or something a little more atmospheric? I could mock up a few ideas if you guys wanted to see what I meant.

Another thing was the loading screen, I understand their might be restrictions with modding ARMA 2, but is it possible to change this from the default tanks picture?

Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge fan of the mod/game, I just want my designers eye to be as pleased as my gamers eye is from DayZ!

Submitted this as a ticket originally and Mason Henrickson suggested posting it up on here for you guys to give feedback/ideas towards this. :)

So with all the things that the alpha is trying to experiment with, and all the things that are problematic and broken, you have an issue with a static death screen that has absolutely zero bearing on in-game player experience?

Like I said, I know it's in alpha, I know there's a million-and-one bugs which have already been named, I was just seeing if anyone would agree that the current "You are dead" screen is a little amateur looking? :)

Just like to say, even though it's in alpha.. they've changed the loading screen! :D

I don't know whether Mason (at Bohemia) mentioned something to Rocket after I emailed them or it was just a coincidence, but i'm proper happy I (might have) suggested something that got implemented :).
