Every time I try to lay down my player does a 3 step sprint and then dives, I thought it was because I was moving but it's not.

That usually happens when there is not enough room for your legs. Like if you try to prone while your back is against a wall.

Might be that you got your weapon down, it will run and lie down then.

Don't know what else could cause it.
